Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanMy room was on the 8th floor and was connected to a room marked "staff only". While trying to relax in my room after work ( and before heading out for dinner) I couldn't enjoy myself because there was a constant banging sound coming through the wall. It was like a was sharing a wall with a construction site. The sound was gone when I went to bed that night, thankfully, but I did pay for the room from 3pm so I would have liked to have been able to relax in the room I paid for!
Very convenient, nice style and comfortable. Staff are a bit awkward but you can use terminals to check in so that's a bonus. I'd definitely stay again, I just have one problem that ruined my stay.

JapanNothing, I really enjoyed my stay here!
I loved this hotel, it was in such a great location! Very close to a train station, and a short ride to any major tourist areas, while being able to stay in a slightly quieter neighborhood, which was nice. The room was very clean. If I was in the area again, I would definitely stay here!

New ZealandThis has nothing to do with the hotel itself, but a couple of things worth knowing: - There are no local coffee shops that open at a decent hour in the morning, definitely nothing before 8 or 9 in the morning. - On a shopping street full of restaurants, the great majority close before 8 severely limiting our options for food.
Once we got over the sticker shock of booking a hotel in Tokyo last minute, we settled on this place largely because of price. The room was small but will appointed, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is on a main shopping street that doesn't specifically cater to tourists. I can't say that it's centrally located, but that's honestly what we enjoyed about it the most. The TV defaults to an info channel that, if you let it loop long enough, gives a handful of useful tips for tourists. Some of these were quite helpful and I appreciated learning how to specifically expresses appreciation for the food we were served during our trip.

CanadaI liked everything but I understand that some people might be uncomfortable with the room size.
The location is very good with public transportation, restaurants and shops around. The APA hotel is a business hotel with small rooms but everything is updated and super comfortable. The staff was perfect and supported us with everything we needed.

LatviaAlthough the street the hotel is on is quite interesting, getting to the hotel from the city centre can be a bit of a chore given that you need to hop around multiple trains. That is not a big deal once you get to grips with the routes, but is something to keep note of.
So, this hotel is "green" thinking, which I personally like. The room cleaning is scheduled every third day starting from your first night with amenities being delivered every day. The room, although small, was still quite well laid out, and had everything one would need in the room. There is no dedicated breakfast place, but you can get bento style breakfast, if you want to, but given the location, there are quite a bit of cafes and dinning places. The view from the hotel room was also great given that this is one of the tallest building in the direct vicinity.

United StatesThe room was really small to the point where I could barely open my luggage comfortably. However l, this was not the main issue. The main problem was the yellowing duvet insert I was giving, and the fact that the pillows I was given smelled odd. There was also visible black dust on the AC vent.

I hated the room, tiny like business hotel rooms in Tokyo but made even tinier by the gigantic TV screen and the hideous wall paper reflected by the two giant mirrors. The reception persons were unfriendly. I don’t think I’ll ever stay in a APA hotel again.

New ZealandNothing. The only thing that would have made my stay better would have been greater accommodation budget! Maybe that would have meant a bigger room but there was nothing more the hotel could have done!
Great location. The Ginza Togoshi street is great for local shopping. The nearby Palm shopping arcade is also great. beats a mall full of chain stores any day. Getting a few stops stop away from a major station on a minor train line is well worth the minimal effort. I also highly rate APA Hotels. Having stayed in a few I realized that, in common with many Japanese hotel chains, they use the same room layout and specific fittings and furniture across many properties. Though the room size and other faculties etc vary with location and price it is nice to know exactly what you are getting, reach out in the dark and the same switches control the same lights etc. Makes for an easy stay and you could not ask staff to be more helpful and professional whatever you need.

AustraliaRooms were quite small and limited facilities (vending machine, microwave). Stayed in other places in Tokyo that were better value for money.
Location is quite cool, with lots of little restaurants and stores - but, it is a bit tricker to get to than other locations in Tokyo as to get the to JY line you need to change trains.

Philippinesthe room is quite tiny, we have 2 large suitcases and 1 small. there’s no closet. i wish there’s a small shelf for clothes aside from the wall mount coat rack. it was a struggle opening and closing our suitcases when changing clothes.
clean room..smells freshly cleaned (cleaning products or air freshener they use is great). I have sensitive sense of smell.. 2 mins walking distance to train stn. ginza shopping street is right at the door! there’s a ramen place beside the hotel that you must try (i forgot the name). bed was comfy..toiletries provided were generous..power plugs/light switches at the bedside was the best (easy access when you’re already lying on the bed). staff were amazing especially the housekeeping. they provide new towels everyday. and clean the bathroom daily. toilet 🚽 is modern, it’s heated so no freezing butt moments at all.
