How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

APA Hotels are usually a safe bet when booking for budget accommodation in Japan. This one is very close to kuramae station and walkable to Sensō ji and Tokyo skytree. The rooms are clean and had all.the basic amenities .

Whilst they offer luggage storage for same day (check in/out) and help you with takkyubin (luggage carrier service that I HIGHLY recommend. They are very strict with the weight (other hotels offered to charge more at least) but the staff here had no leniency, they also don’t help you fill the form (other hotels i’ve been to fill in on your behalf). When storing luggages, they don’t have a specific room. It’s all at the lobby so it can get very crowded and tight to move around.
After 2 weeks in Japan, APA’s hotel bed has been the best i’ve slept in so far. Usually the mattresses are hard and pillows not soft - but APA met the usual standard of bedding and was very comfortable. The location is great if you want to see touristy stuff (senso-ji) or get lost in the city!

The hotel is close to many metro/subway line, with direct train from the airport. Easy to check in and check out. clean room.

The windows cannot be opened. Windows cannot be looked through. Almost no daylight. The mode of the AC unit cannot be adjusted per room. As such, it was way too hot in the room and it couldn't be changed.
The room was clean, everything was provided.

Room smells bad since you can't open the windows and there is no fresh air coming in. It had the smell of a long time used carpet. Bedsheets and the black "decoration" were dirty. I could see stains on both. There are better options in Tokyo ppl paying the same rate.

Centrally controlled heating and cooling. First stay room was too warm and we couldn’t do anything about it.

Room is very compact- but this was absolutely fine for me, but you would need to ask about accessibility if this is relevant to your stay.
Great location very easy to find. Staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Room was compact but very clean with a really nice bathroom. Everything you needed.

Great hotel, very clean, friendly staff. The rooms are small but not too small, with under bed storage for luggage. The location is convenient for public transport and a 7-11 just across the road, with a few bars and nice restaurants nearby too.

The location was perfect, the staff was very helpful, the room while small was adequate for one person. I enjoyed the breakfast, it had variety. The hotel was not the largest of the chain, so the wait times were barely noticeble.

The staff from front desk are super rude and they may think I don’t speak Japanese and star to say bad things of us. Super rude!! They don’t give us a good explanation about how to ship our luggage to the airport or anything they just mocking.
The hotel was very nice, the room is small but comfortable I like that the room has a window and the bead was good.

The location of the hotel made it a bit harder to come back for a break before heading out again.
The room was very clean and felt well designed, so despite being standardly small (for Japan) everything had a purpose and aimed to maximise available space. The hotel was a little way from the main tourist area of Asakusa so was quiet. There were several convenience stores and a supermarket nearby. The staff were courteous and efficient. Note, the hotel is closer to Kuramae Station and Asakusa Station.
