Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesStaff wasn't as friendly and accommodating. You could tell someone of them were just smiling to smile but wasn't sincere and going the extra mile like other hotels.
Breakfast was very good at a reasonable price. Location of the hotel was centralized and easy to navigate once you learn which direction you needed to go.

ThailandThey didn't have an air purifier in the room or in the hotel at all in which you can easily see dust flying in your room and every where. If they can fix this , then this will be the best place to stay!!
Almost a perfect place to stay, except that they didn't have an air purifier in the room or in the hotel at all in which you can easily see dust flying in your room and every where. The rest of the facility was perfect though. Great location right next to ueno market.

CanadaThe bathtub is too high. Seniors and small people may find difficulty to get in and out. Staff speak minimal English.
Excellent location, many restaurants and shops including department stores right opposite. 30 m to Metro and 400 m to Skyliner.

ThailandThe hotel would not keep my bag overnight, even though I would check-in again the day after.
Excellent location. A few steps to Ueno station and Ameyoko street. Hotel was well decorated. Check-in was automated and worked smoothly. The room was ok. It was small, but to be expected from the price range. Every room has its own WIFI hotspot, which is rare and very welcome.

ThailandIt's like you have to use your luck to get a good room layout. This time is not so fortunate for us. However, you come to Japan, a gacha is one thing you have to try anyway.

ThailandThere are no drinking water provided (like the most of Japanese hotel) You can drink the tap water or buy a bottle from conbini nearby.
Standard of the APA hotel never disappoint me. It might say that you can come stay without preparation. There are amenities in the room even pajamas. This place also very close to Ameyokocho which is a market that attract both locals and travelers.

RomaniaCheck-in is done via automated machines and the reception staff is unfriendly and impatient with you when you're trying to figure out how to use them. Had no issues with the room size, it's Tokyo after all. That being said, the view of the room was.. well.. into the wall of another building. So don't expect natural sunlight, or to see the city lights at night. If you want an actual view, try APA Keisei Ueno, which is also close to Ueno station, right next to the park entrance. That or another hotel. The reason I'm giving it a 7 is because of the difficulty checking in and the wall view. A 3 star hotel should be more accommodating.
Location is good, 5-10 min walk from JR Ueno station or Exit 3 (or 4) of the Ginza line. Rooms were fully equipped with anything you'd need. There's even a universal socket left side on the desk. Daily amnesties left at the door. Coin laundry and dryers on the second floor. Breakfast option was good and the food was good.

SingaporeThe temperature in the room was centrally controlled. It could not be adjusted. The temperature was OK for me but may be right for others. The mattress was comfortable but the pillows were too heavy and stiff. No safe. I did not sample the breakfast. I preferred to go to the Doutor Cafe next door to the hotel for a sandwich and coffee, for half the price. But one day I tried to book the hotel's breakfast for the following morning, only to be told that they are fully booked. I have not seen a hotel with such limited capacity. There is a complicated shared tap between the sink and the shower. It's not too difficult to figure it out, but the fixture was so large for the small sink that each time I bent down to wash my face, I would knock my forehead on the thing. It was annoying.
The location was very good, being only a 3-4 minute walk from the Keisei Ueno railway station which has a direct connection to Narita Airport. At first, it may look as if one has to carry one's luggage up 40 - 50 steps to use the overhead pedestrian bridge (busy roads), but I found a traffic light crossing a bit to the south of the hotel that avoided overhead bridges. Check-in was smooth, there were elevators to rooms and my room was quiet. As expected, it was a compact room, but this is normal for Japanese hotels, especially in Tokyo. There was a small desk and multiple power points. Lighting was good but temperature adjustment not possible. There was a mini-fridge, a kettle, hairdryer and sachets of tea and coffee. All fixtures in the bathroom worked well. Hot water came through quickly, water pressure was good and drainage was good. I saw a sign indicating a laundry room, but I did not use it. There's also a spa facility in the hotel, but I did not use it either.

United KingdomThe washing machines are more expensive than elsewhere at 500 yens. Getting in the lift in the evening or the morning is a challenge since it is too crowded. I did not see an access through stairs.

GuamBe ready for how small the room is! (I think it’s pretty standard in Tokyo to have small rooms) I stayed with my partner who is 5”9 and when he was on the bed, his feet were almost touching the wall 😅 luckily this APA hotel, we were able to store our luggage under the bed in order to maximize the space. But opening a large size suitcase in the limited floor space is not fun. My partner and I had to take turns. Channels are also limited for non-Japanese speakers. They do offer free on demand videos but selections are limited and outdated. I suggest you bring an iPad if you don’t wanna watch shows on your phone. No Netflix on the TV. You can screen share to the TV but for some reason it didn’t work with Netflix 🤷🏻♀️
Very close to the stations - walking distance.
