Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandIts in the middle of Kabukicho! Google it first before staying there for several nichts. For a short stay its fine, I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay. Breakfast was okay.
The staff was very nice and supportiv. They did the best to make me comfortable. I was able to order a taxi a the front desk and when I needed to leave earlier, they were very understanding, and helpfull. They refunded the nights which I wasn't staying there. Very nice staff. As well in the breakfast room.

AustraliaVery small room which is typical for Japan. Located in the red light area if that is a concern for travellers.
Close to Shinjuku Station and central Shinjuku. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby.

AustraliaThere was some noise heard from outside which went all night. Believe it was a nightclub with music playing outside the entrance.
Rooms were exceptionally clean and tidy which was great. Location is in a vibrant area but not suitable for familes. Would stay again.

AustraliaThe room is very small, which I knew it would be, but it was difficult for me to get out of bed to go to the bathroom as the bed is pushed up against the window and the wall touches the bottom of the bed, which means I had to climb over my partner to get out.
Location was great

AustraliaTiny rooms and tiny reception area. There's only one lift so it was quite a wait. Price is expensive for size of room and service.
Great location, right in the middle of Shinjuku's action. It was also very clean.

ChinaThe air ventilation can be poor sometimes during winter when the heating is on. The room is a bit small, but it doesn't matter a lot since we are outside most of the day
Convenient location (right in the middle of Kabukicho and short distance to Shinjuku metro & JR station) and low price

JapanDefiantly very squeezy for couple + baby or big size people lol (FYI My hubby and I are small size Asians so it was okay for us). And you need to know where are lifts at Shinjuku station and how to walk from the station. I recommend you grab a taxi from station and when you catch the bus at Basuta Shinjuku to airports, especially if you have luggage. Anyways if you on the budget and you wanna experience Kabukicyo vibes, worth it.
Surprisingly very clean considering the location which is in the middle of Kabuki cyo. it’s trust worthy business hotel brand in Japan. (And I personally respect the owner Fumiko san! )

SingaporeAs the sound proofing is not as great, you might experience noises (Music playing/People talking or laughing loudly) coming from the Clubs/Bars nearby.
The nearest station was the JR Shinjuku Station (About 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel). Lawson and Family Mart (24/7) are pretty much located at every corner, no fear of getting hungry in the middle of the night! This hotel is also near clubs/bars so if you are into night scenes, than this is the place for you as you can simply walk home after drinking. The staff here are super helpful and friendly even though they are not that well-versed in English but we communicated fine with simple English. The facility is pretty clean and modern looking. Although the room is a little small but they have everything you need for a comfy stay (I stayed for 7 days). Will definitely re-visit this place again when I am travelling to Japan.

MalaysiaRoom was smaller than expected. Understand that it's a business hotel but it's pretty challenging having two guys share the room and not bump into each other. The room was also a little dusty. If you're traveling in a group, best to have one person per room.
Hotel was right in the heart of Kabukicho-cho, so plenty of amenities around: convenience stores, pharmacies, restaurants, cafes, entertainment spots etc. The staff at the front desk were very polite and helpful. We initially stayed at the second floor but we were getting fumes from the restaurants from the opposite building and requested to switch room on a higher level and they accommodated our request without any hesitation. Despite the tiny space, everything in the room was self-contained and served its purpose. The bathroom was very clean and water pressure was great. The bed was also very comfortable.
