How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There is slight noise from a surrounding business that I could hear. It was not intrusive though, as I still fell asleep easily and waked up fully refreshed.
It is close to the Shinjuku Station and the places I want to visit in Shinjuku. Bed is soft and showering is relaxing. The hotel also offer to store my luggage on my check-out day.

APA Kabukicho Chuo is incredibly close to the heart of Tokyo. The staff were helpful and able to answer all my questions and had great hospitality. Would definitely come back to stay here next time.

Very small room. Noisy at night because it is not soundproof. One left servicing around 15 floors.

The room wasn't clean properly when we were check in, we found pubic hair on the bed and weird enough on the window. The hotel lobby was tiny and stink with indian spices.
Location in the middle of Kabukicho and staff were helpful.

Hotel is well equipped except for everything is old, hair dryer had mold on it, curtains had dirty stains. Bathroom is very small even for short people. Location is nice if you want to party all night but you cant open the window to allow fresh air because of the smell from all the restaurants nearby even in the morning.

No laundry machine and the vibe of shinjuku... the host culture took over it seem...
The bed was comfortable and big enough for 2 adults since we took the premium room and it was worth it.

I found the staff to be less friendly. Maybe there are issues given the location but the overall experience felt less then other hotels I stayed in in Japan on this trip. Also, very expensive.

Breakfast was awful, not much choices for the price. Check in is 3pm same as in all countries but check out is at 10am which is much more earlier than other countries. If they put the check out early, they must have put the check in earlier as well. They don’t even allow you a free late check out on special request such as birthday. And even if you have stayed in several APA throughout your journey in Japan, they don’t take it in consideration. You have to pay 1000jpy for every hour to extend check out time. 15 floors in the hotel, however, only one lift. So you can imagine the long wait. Hotel restaurant is very bad and expensive. Room super small but it is the same for all hotels in Japan. Bathroom super small. If you want a cleaner and more proper location for your family, I would recommend choosing somewhere else other than Shinjuku as it is very loud and dirty and drunk people a lot at night. Also, you could hear other people’s in their room as if it is in the same room.
Bed was confortable that’s it.

The walls between rooms are thin. Suggest reminding guests to be mindful when they open and shut their doors especially at wee hours and/or lower their volume when talking along corridors.
The jet shower is good. Room is clean, albeit small.

Not a nice surrounding area. Walking back from Shinjuku station we encountered drunk people passed out in the street and trash everywhere. Definitely wouldn't recommend it for families with young kids. Only one elevator for a very busy hotel is a massive oversight. The floor in the room was dirty, and the room was open when we arrived.
Convenient location for those wanting to explore Shinjuku, right in the thick of it. Bed was comfy. Not too much noise from the outside at night. Allowed same-day luggage storage after checkout, got some luggage delivered here from our previous hotel.

Great location and even though you are right in the middle of Shinjuku, the noise from outside does not get into the room. Very clean and new. The bed is super comfortable!
