Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomPrivate onsen was great. Common room with fire was a lovely place to relax in the evening with fellow guests. Shuttle bus to Gora station in the morning was appreciated given the hike to the station. Easy to follow instructions to get the bus to the hotel. We didn’t find the futon beds in the Japanese style room that comfortable but were happy to have experienced it.

UkraineThe only thing I was disappointed about was the room. I had originally booked a traditional Japanese-style room with futons, but it turned out that it was some kind of my confusion and I stayed in the dormitory instead. I still don’t know what happened. While I still had a good experience, it was a bit sad not to get the traditional room I was expecting.
I really enjoyed my stay at Onsen&Garden Asante Inn in Hakone. The location was very convenient for reaching local attractions and catching key bus routes. Even though the weather was quite rainy during my visit, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful — perfect for a relaxing stay. The female dorm bed was comfortable, and I especially loved the blanket — it was one of the coziest I’ve ever had in a hostel. The staff were kind and helpful, and the traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious. Although I didn’t get a chance to try the dinner, I believe it must be just as wonderful. The hotel also offers a private onsen, which is a lovely way to experience traditional Japanese baths. I definitely recommend trying it, but if you can, also visit some nearby big onsen to get the full atmosphere Hakone is famous for.

United StatesThe location was a little challenging to travel between the Inn and town. The morning shuttle provided by the Inn helped. The location wouldn't stop me from staying here again though.
The private onsen was great, friendly staff and tasty, reasonably priced dinner and breakfasts. The lounge area overlooks a lovely garden.

GermanyI was just a bit disappointed i really wanted to get to the ropeway early when the sky was still blue (so ahead of the first shuttle provided by the guesthouse) and the reception suggested using an app to get a taxi but there were no taxis on the app. For future reference i suggest the reception books taxis directly for guests and makes them aware the apps won’t work.
Little oasis on the hillside - gorgeously designed common area with a fireplace facing a zen garden and the mountains beyond. The onsen are wonderfully relaxing - as is the massage chair i discovered belatedly on the last day! Only downside is it is a little out of the way but that’s probably also why you get the garden and views. Despite staying in a dormitory i had my best sleep of all my trip here - and the dormitory was just four beds, with lots of privacy provided by curtains.

United KingdomThe walk up the hill after having to catch the bus for one stop from Gora Station.
We loved our stay. Enjoyed the onsen and view of beautiful Japanese garden and Mount Fuji peeping over the far off hills. Staff were wonderful and very helpful and keen to assist. Interesting guests and tasty breakfast and dinner. Great stay - highly recommended.

United KingdomAll fabulous.
A perfectly comfortable and welcoming place to stay in the Gora area. Bedrooms, dining, onsen and garden all lovely. Thank you Nahla for all your help and good advice, and thanks also to Susmita for helping with the baggage and our yummy ramen dinner, and the kind hotel owner who shuttled us to the station and pointed us in the right direction. We saw magical Fuji from the top of the ropeway, and it perfected our two days in Hakone. Highly recommend this hotel—be aware of 15 min plus walk, steep downhill steps then short uphill to get there from station, so only do with light baggage; if not take the v convenient bus.

BelgiumBe aware that you have to pay a bit extra for use of the onsen, but it’s worth it!
The vibe at the inn was overall sooo relaxed. Besides our prebooked evening timeslot we were also able to enjoy the onsen in the morning before checkout

United Arab EmiratesIt's communal. Expect to meet fellow travellers. Futon sleeping, ok but as in all traditional Japanese style homes, the light comes in early so grab a sleeping mask! Shared showers.
A cute inn with a homey feel. The owner's touch is felt everywhere. The private onsen is nice and the garden is very pretty. There is a laundry room which was super practical. The team is sweet and they take good care of guests.

FranceA slight inconvenient, the location. But the place is worth it. Even though its only 5min walking from the bus station. Its up a hill so you will have to cary your luggage up the hill. Then you need to take a bus to go to gora station to take the cable car (if you wish to may be see the mount fuji on clear days and see the Ashi lake and the geothermal energy of the moutain). Its only 10min bus ride from the hotel bus stop to gora station but its worth mentioning it. Then I recommend you to take the bus from Odawara station and not the trains. Even if the last train ride in the moutain is quit nice, it will take you forever to arrive at gora station by train. Instead take the bus from Odawara station to the hotel. I think its the bus 235. Its only 30min and from Odawara station its well indicated and you will arrive at only 5min by foot from the hotel. Do not hesitate to ask more information at the hotel via booking to have more information. They will be more precise than me.
A very peaceful place, very well equiped, we loved the common area, the private onsen, the big room with real tatami floor and futon. A real japanese vibe. The staff was very kind and helpful online and live. They speak a good english. We thank Nala for her very friendly attitude. She was lovely. They also have all the timetables for the buses. Very helpful. They serve a very nice food for diner. (And they have hot chocolate !!!) Very useful as well because the hotel is located in a residency area so nothing really to eat around. We didnt have the chance to try the breakfast because we left to early before 7am. A smoking area outside which is pleasant and rare in japan. We totally recommend this place. It was one of our best place in japan especially for its typical japanese feeling. They also provide very nice pyjama or Yukata. You will feel like a real japanese without renting a kimono ;). We had a room with bathroom and toilet. Practical because its not always the case in japan.
