Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesBecause of it being old I can definitely heat the next door neighbors very well which can make it feel I don’t have much privacy. But thats what comes with an old house so can’t say there’s much that can be done for that. Also I feel the futon is a little bit thin - would be nice to have an extra layer if possible.
Loved the bed and breakfast and staff were great. Loved how they renovated the place! Already recommended the place to a friend and will keep doing so!

SwedenChie was so nice and helpful. I had issuses with my train and she helped me over the phone. The house is lovley and so cute and traditional. I had a room aginst the street and you could here the traffic from cars during the night and the futon madrass was very thin.

GermanyWe needed a day or two to accommodate in the tiny room and to the colder weather - but that‘s more the western comfort that we are taking for granted already.
Nice tatami rooms with beds much more comfortable than you‘d think at first. Heating/AC available in all rooms. Very nice owners (+young expats running the service) who organize small events and take great care of every need from breakfast to washing clothes.

GermanyI was missing something like a comfy sofa to sit on and read. There was a kotatsu, though.
Really nice house and location, Chie gave great advice on where to go, good coffee, free yoga classes for early birds.

New ZealandQuite a thin mattress on the bunk
Beautiful old house with a thoughtfully designed interior. The shared spaces are comfortable, welcoming and very clean. I had the twin bunk room which was very sweet and a nice size for 2 people. A 5 minute walk to the station.

United KingdomIt's a proper centennial Japanese house so noise insulation is limited, it is not uncommon to hear other guests walking/talking/living in the house. Futons could be a bit thicker
Nice authentic wooden house, nicely designed and cosy. The room was spacious for two people, worth booking if you have lots of luggage and want some space. Kitchen is great, modern appliances and well furnished if you're looking to cook and take a break from going to restaurants. Staff was super nice and helpful. Close from the Kyoto station (2 stations away) and central enough to be 30-40mins away from everything in Kyoto, ideal for 4-5 days stay

GermanyI had an beautiful time at B&B Hachi. The guesthouse is a traditional japanese house and therefore very beautiful with tatami areas for the guests and wooden strcutures. The breakfast was very tasty (they had japanese and western one) and the staff nice and helpful! In the morning I attended a meditation class which was offered by the guesthouse, which I found very nice to start the morning peacefuly before heading out to see many temples and shrines. The guesthouse is also in a very sweet area with an onsen close which the staff recommended to me. All in all I recomend Hachi to everyone who wants a relaxing and beautiful experinece in Kyoto.Thank you so much and see you at my next visit to Kyoto again :)

AustraliaOur stay at B&B Hachi has been a highlight of our trip! From amazing communication before we arrived and continued through out stay. The owner and people working their are super welcoming and friendly. The room was beautiful! Breakfast was simple yet the perfect amount to fill you up to start the day going out to explore. Great touch having a "western and a Japanese style " depending on the day. They all had great suggestions of what to do and or see in the area ( the QR code was a great touch as well) While we were there we got to join a tea ceremony. They have an activities calendar for the inn so if you love meditation/ yoga this happens daily and then some extra things during the week/end. Some really good restaurants and bars within 10min walk , the park nearby has markets on the weekends (again about 10min walk). Sento bath house was also a highlight being so close by! Cleaning was done daily and everything stayed neat and tidy. The kitchen area was nice to be able to sit up there in the evening playing some games or read a book while having a snack as they have a fridge that guests can use as well. Would definitely recommend to stay here even if just for a couple nights!

ItalyB&B Hachi is a very clean, comfortable and beautiful place. The facilities (toilet, shower, towels, room, bed, kitchen etc) are a 10/10! they’re clean and spacious. i really liked the calm, natural and spiritual atmosphere. the breakfast was also really good! i appreciated the fact that it was healthy and generous (fruit, yoghurt, egg, bread with butter and jam, coffee/tea). if i could i would have spent every night of my trip there! i felt secure and as if i were in my own house. really recommend it!!
