Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe advert do state shared bathroom, but it's a shared bathroom in the Onsen where male and female are separate but it's an open plan shower room. For those who want private enclosed shower cubicle then it's not available. The futon was a single layer and so was rather hard on the mats. My mistake to assume it has air conditioning, but this accommodation didn't have air conditioning, luckily it was not really hot when we stayed..
Quiet. Value for money. Host very friendly. Extremely clean

NetherlandsThere was no air conditioning, so we did melt away a bit overnight. Also, the location is pretty remote. It's okay if you're traveling by car (like we did), but we imagine it would be tricky for people who use public transportation. A trip to the convenience store would be a half-hour walk (return trip). Finally, the onsen is nice, but do be aware that this is your only bathing option: there are no separate shower stalls.
The room was comfortable and clean, and the shared spaces were nice. Free parking.

New ZealandAlthough the young host was very friendly and helpful we felt micro-managed at times. We were told off twice for very minor things. We also came back to the guesthouse one afternoon and could not go back in as a key was not provided and the hosts were not at home so we had to wait outside for a considerable amount of time.
The room was quite nice. The in-house onsen is great and we appreciated all the shared facilities.

DenmarkIt took us a long time to get to by local trains from Sapporo airport. Our flight from Tokyo was delayed and we didn’t arrive in Sapporo airport until about 20.00. We Found the trains confusing even with Google Maps which seemed to play tricks on us. By the time we arrived in Noboribetsu station it was about 22.30. There were no taxies in sight and we couldn’t download a taxi app as we only had pur japanese esims. We eventually managed to get a taxi by asking a friendly person in a ryokan 300 metres up the road from the station and arrived at our ryokan at about 23.15 - 15 minutes before it closed for the night.
Comfortable room, pleasant building, friendly host, interesting area, easy access to buses to Shiraoi (where we visited the excellent Upopoy Ainu museum) and Noboribetsu Onsen (where we visited the volcanic caldera and followed the wonderful trails in the magical, surounding forest).

Hong KongThe walls were thin, you can hear everyone in the living room.
It’s a very new guesthouse. The staff was super friendly and will give you suggestions on where to go. Another great thing is you can use the kitchen which you don’t get at the hotel.

IndiaTowel sizes need to be bigger for big people. Location is not well marked on Google and becomes expensive to reach in the evening once public transport stops for the day. Rooms get a little warm as there is no AC.
Brilliantly designed house. Superb onsen. Very pleasant and helpful owner. Pacific ocean is next door almost.

ChinaBecause it's a homestay, the service staff have been monitoring us and always think we're trying to steal things. If you're so nervous, we suggest not opening a homestay anymore. This is my first evaluation and also the first time I have felt very uncomfortable!

RussiaSituated almost in the middle between two train stops, you can't take a taxi from them. The bus runs infrequently. I had to walk. So this accommodation is more suitable for those traveling by car. But I can't say that this limitation is very significant even without a car. Very close to the guesthouse is a bus stop that goes directly to Noboribetsu Onsen, the main tourist spot in this area. Convenient trip at 8 a
Everything was perfect: a friendly owner, a new, very thoughtful and lovingly built house, a comfortable room and a common area with a kitchen.

NetherlandsThe futon in the tatami room is paperthin and the Tami itself is rock hard. We had 3 futon beds in this trip and this was by far the worst. Worst nights of our trip, we ended up stacking our futons to make it bearable. The host also asks a laundry fee per item of clothing which was very odd. Doing our washing ended up totaling costing us 1300yen. Even though it doesn't get as hot in Hokkaido summer, the humidity did make me miss having AC. We booked the room knowing it wasn't there so there is no fault on the host end, just something to keep in mind if traveling in the summer.
The Onsen-style bath is really great and it was very clean everywhere. The building was new with modern amenities (excluding AC).
