How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The bed was like sleeping on a rock, the place stinks and is quite stuffy. There is also only one shower between like 40 people.

The price wasn't very good for what it is. I have stayed in cheaper places that offer higher quality services. What's more is that you need to pay for the washing machine, which at this higher price, I wouldn't have expected.
The location was good and it was very quiet. There was a nice place to eat, and the whole place felt comfortable and safe.

Luggage was scattered across the dorm floor. People would step over them and kick them. Someone stood on my bag and broke my tablet.
It was mostly quiet and I wasn't disturbed much.

There's only one shower room. The bed was thin so i don't get good sleep. There were people from different countries who were so loud late at night and early in the morning (Not the hostels fault). I'm not sure if they know etiquettes in hostels like these. But it was surely annoying. Shoes were brought in despite the sign that shows no shoes inside the rooms. There's a designated place for the shoes. Bags and luggage were all over on the floor, no lockers for valuables.
I liked that it was actually beside the Sugamo station. They include towel, wash cloth, toothbrush. Easy to find, access and check in/out was easy.

The rooms are packed, and it is clear why it is a male only hostel. Girls would have a fit if they saw how messy all the guys are once put together.
Contactless check in so you can arrive late night. It is close by the train station as well.

The place was a mess and had an off-putting smell when I entered. At the head rest of my bed there was plenty of dust that I couldn't sweep off or clean myself as it would go right onto my bed, showed that it hadn't been cleaned adequately. Toilets and showers were messy too

It was a bit hard to find the hotel since the photos provided to find directions and the location were different.
It was all male rooms. It was okay. The room was a little smelly. Very close to the Sugamo train station and nearby restaurant's. Finding a Denny's is like 7 to 10 minutes walk. But walking and exploring is fun and experience Japan culture.

Rooms stink. Shower unusable due to stench. General Condition of the Rooms and Sanitation Areas were horrible but acceplable for that Price.

The toilets however had no toilet paper for several days in a row, not a single toilet. The bedroom is a also very narrow and there is barely and space to move. Not the Hostels fault but some of the guests behave like pigs and leave trash everywhere, some even washed their feet in the sink which is pretty gross.
I liked that the hostel provided shampoo and bodywash. The position and connection in Sugamo is perfect to get into the city quickly and Sugamo itself provides lots of shops and things to see. The little lockers in the washroom are good enough to store little hygiene products. Bigger Valuables should be taken and not left in the bedroom since they could be stolen

My bed was not fully clean , there was a bloody tissue behind the tissue box. There was a group of guys that would make a lot of noise till 3 am sometimes and i did not get one good night sleep during my stay. The last 2 days there was no more toilet paper in any of the toilets

The hostel was used and the pictures were old! There is people living there full time so no where to storage you luggage…..toilets were dirty, showers broken and no toilet paper
It was situated next to the metro, so easy going down town or wherever you wanted to go

Unfortunately I was in the bed right next to the door and it was impossible to sleep with the other guests hard closing the door.
Everything was fine except, the other people staying witch can make the air feel a little unwelcoming
