Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongThe dolls (“robots”) don’t do anything but the automated check in system is clear enough. Room is clean and tidy but small (as in many other Japanese hotels).

United StatesIt indeed felt "strange" to not have interactions with a person until breakfast in the morning. (Henn na means "strange".) Check in is done yourself, with a kiosk. A person briefly came out because the instructions said Last Name then First Name, but it only worked the other way around. And then the person disappeared again. No one to ask questions of. But the man making breakfast in the morning was kind and pleasant.
The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was very convenient to Hamamatsucho Station. There were restaurants nearby. A short walk to Zojo-ji. They offer locked luggage storage for the day, if you want to leave your suitcases for a while. (Longer storage costs a little.) The breakfast was quite nice.

New ZealandThe check-in system doesn’t seem to be set up to handle multiple room bookings from the same person. I booked multiple rooms for my group but the self-check-in machine couldn’t handle that. A (human) staff member had to come and resolve the issue.
Great location, perfect for a stopover between Narita and taking the bullet train. Room isn’t large but has everything you need. Clothes ‘fridge’ was interesting and actually works very well.

PhilippinesThe mattress on the bed was not one whole mattress. It had a fold/long cut in it that made lying down on it uncomfortable at times.
The location was good. Close to train stations and convenience stores.

United KingdomThe room was quite small for couples with big suitcases and the bed was actually incredibly uncomfortable - it had a very thin mattress on a wooden board which was not very nice to sleep on for multiple nights.
We loved how easy it was to check in/out and the fact you can order Dominos to your room!

United KingdomThe bed was a bit too rigid but this is an issue I found a bit all over Japan. They are probably more used then us to rigid beds, probably because of the futons tradition.
Located in the strategic district of Hamamatsucho, just 2 minutes from the train station and between 10 and 30 minutes from all the most renowed and touristic destionations. The surrounding is also really nice. Room a bit cozy but very nice and clean, there was everything inside you could eventually need. The laundry room on the ground floor allowed us to wash clothes and dry them.

ThailandThe two check in machines never work properly. There we a staff who's busy fixing them for every single check in customer. For us, we paid with credit cards which has 4 digit pin code, but hotel system (or Japan system I'm not sure) requires 6-digit pin code. So hotel system rejected our cards. We used cash option and put notes into the machine, but again the machine didn't give us change. So the only one staff had to come, open the machine fix it. Still didn't work. Eventually he ended up bringing money out of his own pocket to give us changes. Later we found out it somehow did charge our credit cards and later cancelled itself. However we end up paid like 15USD for each room on our credit card due to difference in exchange rate.
Room is small as expected. Everything is modern comfortable and clean. They even provide the Dry clean machine in every room. There's a locker room to put our luggage in when we arrived before checking in time. very convenient.

AustraliaThe room was the smallest of the hotel rooms we found in Tokyo (around the same price range). Very cramped with two suitcases. (carry on size). The mattress was quite thin, but we were not aware of this prior to booking, so have mentioned these so others are aware.
Location, near a train and subway station, a few cafes and bars, though not much to explore directly it is a good base. Check in was easy in English as done on a tablet, and staff are present in case the robot check in has any issues. We did not use it but there was a garment wardrobe steamer for clothing also, which was not something we came across in any other hotels we stayed at. It is worth noting the check in with robots is done on a tablet much the same as self-check in that was present at some of our other hotels. These hotels had larger rooms in the same price range, however did initially have more contact required with desk staff, so this hotel may be nice for people either directly wanting a robot check in experience, or less personal contact with others
