Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyAll good. One might dislike the lack of hotel staff around, but there is a telephone to call them and they come if needed
The public bath was a great experience (be aware of Japanese bath rules). Room size was ok for Japan, bathroom rather small but also ok. No staff around as checkin is with machines. Area also great, right in the centre of the city, airport bus stop 50m from Hotel. Several convenient stores in the neighborhood and Donki on the other side of the streer

United KingdomThough the automated check in process worked fine, I'd much rather have a real person to check in with. The robot thing is very gimmicky and I'm not a fan. Cheaper parking nearby would be good too.
It's a fine place to stay for a short visit to Kagoshima. The price is right and the rooms are adequately sized for a short stay. It's super close walking distance to most things in Kagoshima. The staff were very helpful with a few questions that we had as well. The public bath on the top floor also allows people with tattoos, which was nice.

United KingdomNothing negative to point out. If anything, it would be nice to see something in the room that reflects the "weird" vibe of the reception, a painting, a plushie, a rubber dinosaur for the bath 😂
I've seen videos of this hotel chain in the past, but completely forgot about it so it was a big surprise when I got to the reception and was met by a 65 million year receptionist 😂 I booked a regular room, but apparently there are some rooms with funny decorations too and some dedicated to children, which sounds great if you're traveling as a family. The check-in process is fairly simple, you are greeted by your holographic host once you touch the screen. For foreigners, the system will tell you to insert your family name and given name in this order, but won't recognise it, it needs to be given name and then family name. Don't worry if you come to a stump or need some help, the system will automatically call someone or you can call them on the screen. Good facilities, massive common bath (very clean), two coin washer dryers, vending machines, spacious smoking room, microwave in the lobby and manga books as well. The standard room was simple, but enough for me as a solo traveler. Chargers by the bed side, good amenities in the room and extras in the lobby, just very normal. Location was great, very central, near bars and restaurants, walking distance to public transport and the ferry to Sakurajima.

IsraelThe self check in procedure aborted for a technical issue with no explanation and then worked on the second try. After a long train ride I would prefer it to be a little simpler.
The beds were big and comfy. The Onsen on the top floor was nice for relaxation. The kids loved the front desk holograms.

ArgentinaThe check in and out was strange. I checked in with a hologram ninja and out with a samurai. It was efficient, but just odd to have no human contact at the reception.
The onsen was great. Rooms were comfortable and of fairly decent size. Clean and a perfect location to explore Kagoshima.

TaiwanYou will need to be familiar with the machine to check-in and check-out by yourself. Although you can also call staff for help, it will be great to directly deal with people rather than the machine Robert.
The lobby and the bathroom are both clean and cozy. There are the luggages lockers for you to ensure the luggages are safe after you’ve checked out.

GermanyThe windows of quite a number of rooms seem to be facing the adjacent building, which stands very close to the hotel.
Hotel is centrally located but not noisy and quiet at night. Room was well equipped and well insulated. It kept a comfortable temperature even with heating disabled. Bedding, towels, etc were of high standard. Everything was clean, staff was friendly. They have a public bath on the top floor which does NOT enforce anti tattoo rules.

SingaporeNothing at all!
Seamless check in by the animated dinosaur which was so cute and simple. Step by step guide on the screen with english option and the whole process was less than 5mins. Check out is equally simple by slotting in the room cards. The hot bath is clean and reasonably big. Room is big for Jap standard, at least able to open up my large size luggage fully and lovely scent of the toiletries. Best is that the airport limousine is just less than a min way away on the same side of the hotel, so easy and least effort of getting myself and luggages to the bus stop which charge yen1400 for the single trip. Also love love the in room clothes sanitizer and drying machine, my jackets smelt so fresh and a few pieces dried within a few hours. Last but least, the little details of providing 2 different colored tooth brushes ( one black and one white), make it so easy to differentiate between mine and my hubby.

AustraliaA little tight for space in the room but not unusual for Japan
Got an excellent price for 2 adjoining rooms for 1N which made it value for money in terms of location, modern and new room and hotel facilities. My teenagers were very keen to try the VR headsets for hire but we had regretfully checked in only at 9pm with early check-out the next day for our flight. We had the thrill of AI check in and out. Also appreciated how new the laundry machines were (often really old and outdated at hotels). The onsen on the top floor also looked inviting but we had just spent time at Ibusuki onsen so skipped using it.
