This is subjective - the water temperature in the hot spring was too high and it took some time to reach the suitable temperature using the cold water tap.

The meals were delicious and the service was impeccable. The accommodation is very beautiful and tranquil. The room itself came with a massage chair and private onsen. Amenities were sufficient.

Our stay at this ryokan was incredible. While a bit of a trek from the Yufuin train station (20minutes), the location was superb being 5mins walk away for exploring the main local attractions (Yunotsubo Shop Streets and Kirin Lake). The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the private onsen was a real treat. The room was spacious and comfortable, especially with the kotatsu. The meals were also fantastic. The only downside was the smoke from the BBQ part of the dinner, which could have been better managed with more ventilation. Upon check-out, the staff offered free drop-off service back to the Yufuin train station.

It was beyond my expectation. The Kiseki dinner was so delicious. Their steamed rice was so good and perfectly cooked. The room had sepreated part and had plenty of space with message chair,unbelivable . The old woman at the reception can't speak English but she try so hard to explain us in Japanese, very nice. The location was perfect, located near Kinrin lake and Yufuin Floral village. Definitely come back if possible

The room is separated from the main building. Hence, safety may be a concern.

The owner was very warm and helpful though language was an issue. After check out, she sent us to the other hotel that we were to check in.

We were told that they could pickup after 3 pm. When we called them, however, the staff couldn't understand English at all so we gave up and walked to the place. With carrying 3 luggages over the unpaved road was not a pleasant experience. Our room was on the second floor lead by a narrow and stiff stairs. The runs were short and we had to carry our own luggages that were heavy. We wouldn't have selected the room if the information was available at the time of making the reservation. The staff who couldn't speak english didn't have much patience for us as we were leaving. It was not the best goodbye. Sayonara should be kinder than that.

This ryokan was our last night stay in Japan. We included the dinner and the breakfast. The food quality at this place was the best out of all places we tried. That was so worth the price, especially the 10 course dinner. The cleanliness of the entire place was above and beyond our expectations. We loved the yukata and the wooden sandals provided by them. We were able to take photos at the kinrin lake within the yukata. Both the indoor and outdoor onsen were nice. It would have been good to see some details (benefits) about the water but there was none written info. The water was way too hot when we enter one of the outdoor spa. If we weren't taught by the previous ryokan we wouldn't have know to mix in the cold water to the pool. The drop off service to the Yufuin station was nice.

Definitely dated and older than the ryokans we stayed at and we were in the room right beside the stairs and reception so we couldn’t sleep in given people walking up and down and talking in the hallway.

Staff was amazing and absolutely loved the experience and food. Value of food alone was worth it compared to a few other ryokans we stayed at.
