Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeI wish I could have stayed longer.
Everything is perfect, and the host is very friendly and approachable. She picked me up when I arrived the place and drove me around to see the sea of cloud. The traditional house of onyundani was so peaceful and I have peace during my stay. The food prepared by the host was so good.

AustraliaWe should have booked for longer.
The host was absolutely amazing. She spoke English well and did everything she could to make sure we had a good comfortable stay. Got the heater going for us, made us a fire, some hot green tea, rugged us up. The house is a very traditional old japanese house, gets cold but plenty of heating to keep us warm. The area is beautiful if you like the country area. Was a very nice contrast to the busy cities. We saw wild monkeys! Make sure you buy all your supplies before heading to the accomodation, there are no shops nearby. The host made us breakfast which was very filling and very very tasty. Thanks again and we hope to see you when we return to Japan.

AustraliaThe roads can often be narrow, but it only takes 1.5 hours to get here
Wonderful experience in a traditional house in a deep mountain of Japan. The dinner and breakfast were exceptional, prepared and presented with care and love. We rented a car to get here and visited nearby small towns for shopping. The onsen nearby has good facilities, and the quality of the water was excellent. Strongly recommend if you wish to experience a traditional Japanese living and hospitality.

SingaporeNothing to comment. What I want to say is just set your expectation right. This is a place for natural lover and someone that enjoy the peace and quietness.
The guesthouse is located around mountains area. Is totally away from the city and facilities. The guesthouse is like traveling back time. Very traditional guesthouse. Fresh air and very quiet surrounding. You can just walk around the area and enjoy the peace. We are even been treated with Purin (プリン) by the host before we said goodbye.

ThailandAn old Japanese house in a beautiful secluded valley. The house is really very large, with a large kitchen where it is possible to cook. The surroundings are really beautiful but you have to consider that you are really isolated. Fast wifi, great service, highly recommended if you want to experience a "different" Japan

Set in the tranquil, natural surroundings of Kutsuki, this historic traditional Japanese home is the perfect retreat away from the busy modern world. Be sure to check the meal option as it’s a delicious feast. Essential mod-cons are here, wifi, modern toilet, kitchen facilities, but most of all you’ll enjoy the crisp countryside air and warm hospitality of the owner. Recommended!

United Kingdomit's a classic old Japanese house with some modern comforts. But you should not expect the same comfort level as in the modern hotel. The house does not hold warmth so it get cold in the morning if it's cold outside. There is a super friendly koi fish just behind the house and my daughter was allowed to play with the chickens. The house has lots of character and tasty breakfast was offered in the morning.
