Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyI was surprised that you have to pay to take a shower. I know there are places that charge for towels, but having to pay to get a key for the shower was very weird. At night it also gets very noisy, because there is a Karaoke place somewhere close by. Having to give back the key when leaving is not really convenient.
The hotel is close to the station and I think it was decent for the price and for a short stay.

New ZealandCapsules are what they are. It’s cheep accomodation for a reason. I’m tall at 6’4 so they weren’t long enough for me. Also there was no ventilation inside them that I found. And being in close confines with your neighbours dosent help with a long sleep.
The location was fantastic. Right in the heart of vibrant Shinjuku, and minutes walk from the station. The staff were great and the place was very clean and well maintained.

AustraliaThe bed itself was quite uncomfortable and the blind for the capsule has gaps in it so the light in the hallways that never turns off shines in the capsule 24/7. It isn't very soundproof in the room. If you want to socialise this isn't the place as it's very quiet. Right at check out they told us we had to get out straight away and they will not hold luggage
The main lobby area was nice. Free drinks and ice cream. The bathroom areas were nice too and the location was awesome

JapanStaff wasn't kind with me. He didn't explain about receipt and and got mad at me. Other improvement point is about shower. I needed to catch the key, went take a shower and after that return again to reception. I think that you can think a better way to solve this simples but important point.
The cost, cleaning, organization and location are very good. I will reccomend for other friends and relations. Probably I will return.

JapanThe reception is on the 7th floor, while the rooms and showers are on the 5th floor. To take a shower, you need to go from your room on the 5th floor to the reception on the 7th floor to request and pay for the shower. Then, return to the 5th floor to use the shower. Afterward, you must bring the shower room keys back to reception on the 7th floor before heading back to your room on the 5th floor — all by using the stairs.
The place is clean and conveniently located in the heart of Shinjuku. It’s literally right in front of a famous landmark, with the Godzilla statue perched atop a building. For the price, it’s an excellent option if you’re just looking for a place to stay overnight.

ThailandThere was only one toilet and two shower rooms on the floor where I stayed. It would be great if they had a spot for unpacking and grabbing things from luggage, since we had to do that at the reception and might have disturbed people who were reading.
Overall, the experience was good as we had read the reviews beforehand and prepared in advance. For instance, we were aware of the 200 yen charge for a 30-minute shower and the lack of storage for luggage. Therefore, we separated the things we needed into a small bag and left the luggage at the reception. The air conditioning was cool, and the wash basin area was nice. The toilet and bathroom were clean and spacious. Additionally, there were free drinks and ice cream available at the reception.

SingaporeHad to pay to use the shower, and the time allocated was quite short. The timer starts immediately upon paying at the counter, but it takes some time to get from the counter to the shower and back.
Very clean and convenient to reach. Staff were friendly and took care of any questions. Shared area was very open and had a lot of seats to use.

JapanThis is NOT a hostel. It should not be listed on booking at all! It is a great proper net cafe only! Thus, you cannot leave your luggage or even hang around before or after your stay. The employees might sound rude but they are not, because they are not oriented as hotel people! They are oriented as cafe people. It is a great place to stay if you're just looking for a place to sleep and not socialize with people and do not expect to be treated as a guest. You are not a "guest" here. You just dropped by the cafe. You need to leave your "receipt board" everytime you go out of the place and take it when going back in. You must pay for shower. All sorts of stuff that might seem inconvenient because you expect that you booked a hostel. You did not.
