There are no amenities, so you have to bring your own towels, toothbrushes, etc. It would have been good if they had made this clear beforehand, but it wasn't a huge issue as you can buy them at nearby convenience stores.

I liked the staff - the manager/owner was very friendly and welcoming. The futon was also very comfortable and I slept very well.

I booked the hostel very last minute, so it was my fault not having checked the details properly, but you cannot leave your luggage at the hostel beforehand. I didn't know that, so I went all the way to the hostel up the hill with all my heavy luggage just to turn back to the station to leave my bags in the locker, and then having to pick it up and bring it again to the hostel once the check in started. Also, the bunker beds have no curtains or anything to give a little bit of privacy or protection from the light. I have zero problems with mixed dorms, but not having a curtain in this case was a bit bothersome. I'm not a super picky person so none of those things were major issues, but it's something to consider while booking it.

The place was clean and well kept, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was super helpful and had great tips of where to go and what to eat. For an overnight stay, it was good, especially for the price paid. Thank you!

it's not really something that I didn't like or a bad thing but more of something that would help to know. The staff tells you right away so expectations were set that there's no ammenities like towels, disposable toothbrush, etc but there are hairdryers, showers, soaps, shampoos and conditioner available. also you will need to put the covers on your bedding which I kinda liked since it was a cute experience. Overall it was a fantastic stay.

it was nice and comfy. we booked the quad room but ended up getting the whole room to ourselves! the kotatsu was really nice and the staff was all friendly. they gave some great recommendations on where to eat and which onsens to check out.They're very nice and would chat with you if you stay at the lobby. it's located close to some of the main attractions but distanced enough that it's quite peaceful and away from the crowds. Although we didn't bring much luggage there was still ample storage space in our room. There's also lockers there but no locks (I'm not sure if the front desk would lend any since we didn't bother asking as we had the room to ourselves). We quite liked our stay there so we might book it again when we go back to Kusatsu!

Very friendly staff with good tips around the facilities in kusatsu. Comfortable stay which was a short 5 minutes away from the main area. Nice authentic Japanese guesthouse stay with tatami mat room, futons and such. Great value as well.

There is no parking available. We can hear noises when other guests pass by our room, including loud footsteps. Additionally, we chose not to use the shower room because it is small and the bathtub appears dirty.

We came in a rental car and it was very hard to determine the parking options. This must happen all the time and they should be prepared for the question.
