Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsLocker was small so all big luggage are stored at reception. I was travelling with 2 big luggage and wanted to pack whenever I wanted, so it was not handy. There is no place to put anything at the bed... small security box would be nice to have at least.
Location was good, very close to the Ueno station, there is a convenience store next it, and WiFi worked well enough. They provide free drinks & food which is very generous.

IndonesiaThey don't provide staff that can speak English, and this place was mostly full of Japanese. I think this place isn't designed to be very welcoming to foreigners. So, if you're not familiar with Japanese customs and can't speak Japanese at all, you might have a hard time following their rules and enjoying your stay here. Some rules were also not very intuitive. This is coming from someone who lived in Japan for a few years and can speak Japanese. Some parts of the toilet were dirty of "number 2", if you know what I mean, as if they weren't thoroughly cleaned. The microwave in the lounge area was super dirty, too. The lockers inside our capsule room were too small for big luggage. Big luggage was meant to be left downstairs with the staff whenever we left the hotel. The locker room was too narrow, and we weren't allowed to bring small luggage inside the capsule room. So, it was a bit hard to move around the locker room to get our stuff. There was no place to hang our wet towels. It was supposed to hang inside the locker, which could cause a bad smell. The TV inside the capsule was protruding, so I bumped into it a couple of times. The capsule was only covered by curtains, so it wasn't completely soundproof. I could hear people snoring. Overall, during my 6-day stay, I felt like living in a strict dorm and didn't find it relaxing at all. I even felt more tired due to consistently taking out and storing my huge luggage every day. My holiday would've been perfect if I hadn't been staying here. If you're going to stay for more than 2 days, don't choose this hotel.
This hotel is super close to JR Ueno Station, which is one of the major stations in Tokyo that includes JR East Station. It's also close to the Metro Hibiya Line and Ginza Line. It's also surrounded by many restaurants and shopping areas that offer tax-free services. They provide all the amenities that you need such as shampoo, soap, facial oil cleanser, facial foam, toothbrush with toothpaste, mouthwash, comb, and hair dryer. They provide free rice, curry, udon, water, and roasted tea. I'm a Muslim, so I brought my own side dishes and ate them with the rice.

NetherlandsEverything was amazing. The food (24/7 access and included in the price) was tasty, the hot spring was great, the commodities were perfect and the staff was friendly and really tried to help (even grabbing a translating app). I would definitely highly recommend this place for backpackers and solo travellers especially. It's very great and in a central location. Perfect!

JapanFor cost-effectiveness, this is definitely a recommended accommodation! The front desk staff is not very explanatory, but they are happy to answer any questions you may have. They are moving around in a red cloth because they want you to ask questions. The water in the large bathroom is hotter than other facilities. However, the Japanese men are delighted with it. I have moved up to Genius Level 3 at this facility. I am sad that I will not be able to see the staff here.

TaiwanIt was the worst experience I had in Japan. There were way too many problems. 0. Big problem if you arrive in Tokyo in the early morning. You can go there to leave your luggage but since it's not check-in time yet, you're not allowed to stay ANYWHERE in the hostel, not even the sofa area on the first floor. It was really the first time I've heard of this. And if I want to stay in their common area, I have to PAY. Why? I'll explain in number 2. 1. You can't bring your luggage to the room because there was no space. Everyone had to leave their suitcases on the first floor, but I really wonder who would pay for the loss if anything gets stolen. (Don't tell me it won't happen because it's Japan.) 2. I wonder why it's not mentioned -- It's also an INTERNET CAFE, which I had no idea in the first place. This is why you need to pay for the common area before checking in! (every hour counts!) Also, there were SO MANY non-travellers around! I honestly wasn't very comfortable with that. It just wasn't something I expected. 3. You need to turn in your keycard before going out. That means-- you need to line up with all other travellers who are also going out or checking out, or -- the non-travellers who are actually here for the INTERNET CAFE. 4. Even tho the 5th floor is the women's dormitory, a part of the floor is actually the private rooms for the internet cafe, and non travellers can just get into women's dormitory very easily. 5. NO ONE was allowed to stay in the room when they are cleaning from 11am to 2pm. TBH I really don't see the point of doing this. And they leave the door open while cleaning! So anyone can get into the room easily. 6. The facilities were really old. The bed, the tv, the mirror, practically everything. 7. When I was there, only 2 employees was able to communicate in English. Often when I asked anything, they just replied in Japanese. One of them even said, "If you don't pay, out!
1. They provided pyjamas for everyone. 2. Free manga (all in Japanese tho) and free curry (Only after you check in) 3. There's a 7-11 in the back

GermanyAll the facilities were no available due to Corona regulations. No sauna, no gym. That was weird, because in other hotels in Seoul there were no corona regulations. In the last day it was raining and the water was leaking from the sealing of our room and dripping on our bed, which would have been a lot more annoying if it was raining during whole of our stay.
Very nice and clean bathroom with a bathtub. The bed was comfortable and bedsheets felt nice. Although the room looks small on the picture, there was plenty of space to put the suitcases and move around comfortably.
