Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. ChinaI would go back there for a night or two but not longer because the room isn't cleaned during any stay - even though I stayed 5 nights. TV only offers a few channels and no possibilities to connect to another device or VOD account.
The location is excellent (10min walk to key metro/train, next to bus stop, walking distance to Gion), surprisingly quiet although next to à larger road. The room is nicely bright and quite comfortable despite having a big suitcase. Staff is polite and helpful, they speak very good English. There is a coffee machine, tea and a microwave in the small lobby. It is an excellent value for money.

The room was amazing, we had a really nice view! And it was very clean & large. The staff was very helpful and spoke English very well. In front of the hotel is a bus station from which one could reach nearly any place in Kyoto.

quiet street yet walking distance to pontocho and gion, close to the river with plenty of cafes, restaurants and buses. I liked the vertical windows that allowed plenty of natural light to come in.

So, like you I read these reviews and had three concerns about staying here from reading these reviews and they were unfounded. 1 - the size, yeh very small but it has a double bed, fridge, private bathroom.. I’m 6’ 4 and 18 stone and had plenty of room, I am a solo traveller though. 2 - nowhere to store clothes, I was in one of the small rooms but there ARE drawers under the bed. 3 - not near train station, it’s less than a 10 minute walk BUT there’s a bus stop outside the hotel, literally the bus dropped me off outside and I couldn’t find the hotel for actually being in its porch lol. It’s a good hotel, it’s basic but good and comfy enough for one.
