Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIn this hotel if you want your room cleaned you have to put a request a night before. Everyday you put your garbage in the hallway and they hang your towels on your doorhandle. I stayed 8 nights so I reqested the cleaning in the middle. They didn't vacuum the floors, didn't wipe the surfaces and didn't change the bed linen. All they did just made a bed and took the garbage. As I felt not comfortable communicating this through translator I didnt complain. But cleanliness in a whole was subpair.
The location of this hotel is superb, right in the centre of everything near subway station and bus stop. There are several combinies around with Lawson just across the road. The staff I dealt with didn't speak English but they went out of the way to help me with the google translate, I didn't have any problems to communicate my needs and to get what I wanted. Just to note, not that this is negative just to be prepared. Rooms are very small. I'm used to Japanese business hotels' room size, but here single rooms are 9 sqm. If you are planning just going sightseeing all day and coming back to sleep, it's fine. I didn't mind. Room was full of usefull things despite of the size. It had washing machine, trouser press, fridge, small desk and chair. I counted 9 power outlets! But no place to keep your suitcase open.

New ZealandThere wasn't any ventilation working in the room I was in, but it appeared to be there. When you opened up the door, the moisture went into the room which made the room musty and affected my allergies.
It's in a great location, close to public transport and local attractions, the coffee and soft drinks in the lobby are a nice touch and the room has everything you need. Also great value for money vs other places

JapanThe bed and pillow were both insanely hard and uncomfortable, harder than the firmest futon I've ever felt. The shower head angle was not adjustable which meant when you turned it on it POURED onto the bathroom floor unless you jerry-rigged the shower curtain to create the perfect funnel (that would immediately collapse if you moved)
Location was convenient. Amenities were nice and room was cleanly.

JapanThe room cleanliness could have been better, but this might stem from the minimal housekeeping scheme the hotel has. Towels are accumulated since they are provided every day, this might be a plus for some and a negative for others.
The location was quite good, the in-room washing machine and drying line in the bathroom were quite nice to have, the bathroom has a drying function making clothes drying easier. The public bath on the top floor, while small, was nice and included an outdoor area that fits one person. The lobby has a free drink machine. The bed was comfortable and quite big for single person Japanese hotel rooms. The room also had a small fridge, pants press and desk with chair. Provided night ware (pjs, common in Japanese hotels, coat useful to go to the public bath) fit larger sizes, and was comfortable. Daily towels and complementary water bottles were provided. Housekeeping is minimal, but works ok. Wifi is kind of weak, but ethernet connection was good. Noting the weak wifi to the front desk lead to the staff providing a solution that improved the wifi.

United KingdomSo initial impressions were that it looked abandoned at the front, but noticed a passageway at the side to the reception area. Turns out theres work being done on the front, but did look a bit shabby. The inside was quite tired looking, and seemed a bit dated and the windows to my room opened out onto a dark alleyway with a smoking area so I couldnt open my windows and they had thick paper covers on the inside which was a shame as it made the room feel dark at any time of the day.
Good location and so easy to find the building itself. Very helpful staff, and an instruction sheet to help. Check in machine available in many languages which was good. Room really had everything I needed, so many gadgets! For such a small room I had everything I needed pretty much. Tissues, pen and paper, trouser press, torch, place to hang clothes and dry them, mini fridge, the list goes on! Really enjoyed the bath and the heated mirror to stop it steaming up was genius. The mini fridge and provided bottled water was such a super lovely touch.

United KingdomOur room overlooked the main road, so there was no logic to covering the windows with shoji paper, in effect it is claustrophobic. You can't even look out of the window to see whether it is night or day or what the weather is doing. Moving about the double room with two people and their luggage was like those puzzles where you can only move one square at a time.
Location is excellent, extras are superb, it was lovely to come back each evening and pick up complimentary bath salts for a soak before bed. Room was clean and well laid out.

JapanIt was hard not to spill water all over the bathroom floor when taking a shower. Even with the curtain pulled it spilled out at the sides but I got fresh towels every day so it was no big deal

AustraliaIt could be slightly small for travellers with big luggage.
The room has everything you need. A comfy bed, a moisturiser, a washing machine, and a toilet that has drying function making it very handy for washing your clothes. One-time washing powder can also be purchased at the hotel it is very convenient. The hotel is also close to the train station that provides direct access to Osaka and many surrounding areas, and various bus routes that allows you to get around the tourist attractions of Kyoto. So be in mind that this is a business hotel catering towards the locals, so make sure you follow the local rules to show some courtesy, e.g. lowering your voice around common areas.
