Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SpainThe staff was helpful but the town closed at 9PM for all services or shops or restaurants.
Self checking in in the rooms and quick responses on the booking app for any doubt. The rooms were well equiped and toilet was spectacular.

AustraliaThere was no hanging space for wet towels, only one chair and no table if you wanted to eat in. They did have a kettle in the room and microwave it the communal area. Only two sachets of sugar for two people, not nearly enough if you’re a sweet tooth.
Close to the historic site of Shirakawa go although we had a car and only a couple minutes drive. Although there were no staff attending, we had no issues checking in as communication was excellent via email messages. Very and clean.

GermanyLocation is outside the historical center, profile picture of stay could be misleading.
The room was nice including bathroom. Very comfy bed as well. Make sure you pack plenty of snacks, there is a small convenience store, but basically all restaurants, apart a few exceptions, are closed. Also the ones who should be open won’t bother doing so if nobody is there (we went to a place which according to the hotel would be open until 9pm at it was already closed at 7.30pm).

United KingdomIt’s a 15 minute walk from the bus station along a big road. Thankfully it’s not uphill but still quite a long way with luggage. It’s not in the old village that everyone wants to visit.
It was clean and comfortable. Also it’s near the only restaurant that’s open to non-guests in the evening in Shirakawago. If you are staying here make sure you reserve a table at Tenkara or your only option will be the convenience store.

United StatesAbsolutely beautiful location and house. We were able to get a very early start and go over to Shirakawago Go before any buses had arrived. This whole area was beautiful and the mountains are lovely. The twin beds were huge and the bathrooms and rooms in general were very large and well stocked.

PhilippinesIt's quite far from the village/bus station, and the available bus service operates at infrequent intervals.
The room is tidy, and despite the absence of on-site staff, the host promptly responds to messages and accommodates requests. There is a microwave for heating food. There is a maintenance guy who clears snow along the walk way. Huge help during winter.

Hong KongWould be the room temperature. We understand it’s in winter but the moment we stepped into the room was like entering a fridge. Took us a long while to get warm enough to fall asleep… hope the hotel can consider having insulation facilities installed.
The cozy interior of common area, which allows us to take a break from freezing weather after arriving at the hotel. The idea of self check in was good. No need to go through a waiting process upon arrival.

No breakfast but Koyama san was a big help. We were not aware that shuttle was provided until i received the email the day before. We were slightly delayed but Koyama san picked us as per the shuttle schedule from the bus stop for us to check in pick up our tickets and back to town for the show. After the winter light up, he waited for us from the nearest pick up point. He gladly stopped at a convenient store for us and upon seeing us with some food stuff, he went to the back of the van to get a plastic bag for us. How nice. And all these were done with the help of our respective phones for translating Japanese - English.

Thailand1. The property is easy to access on foot (almost 2km) to Shirakawa-go village, but in winter might be a but difficult to drag a luggage around. 2. Car park isn’t that friendly due to a big pile of snow almost half of the place. Luckily, I changed my plan not to drive. Instead, had to drag my 26 inches luggage from and to the bus station.
- The property is new, clean and comfy. - The room and bed are quite big with some space for big luggages (although 2 pax in). - Also like about power outlets which are quite a few more than typical hotel/ resort in Japan. There are USB and USB-C ports as well as normal outlets. - PJ provided 😍 - The welcome matcha cream crackers were very nice.
