The host was super kind and friendly. Although he didnt speak english and i dont speak japanese he made sure i was comfortable and had everything i needed. He offered a tea ceremony and it was really nice. The property is really beautiful and the room was warm and cozy. I will try to come again with my friends in the future.

The location is a bit inconvient if using public transportation. You're a train ride and a bus ride away from Sendai station and the bus times are few and far between so you'll have to plan accordingly.

The host was very nice and demonstrated a traditional tea ceremony which was a great cultural experience. The Ryokan itself is very cozy and well furnished. It has a communal kitchen, a free use washer/dryer and single person shower/bath. The room itself was quite large and the futon itself was very comfortable. There's a twenty four hour grocery store five minutes away by walking.

It was a bit out of the way, but the house and garden are so beautiful that they're worth the commute.

The room was large, clean, and comfortable. The host, although speaking limited English, was superlatively hospitable and did his absolute utmost to guide us through the traditional tea ceremony. It was also so very appreciated that we were able to bring our pet!

The bedroom was nice but the futon are a bit slim, if you are not used to tatami/futon it may be hard to sleep there. We were there during November and it was a bit fresh, so it may be pretty cold during Winter. Don't forget to bring warm clothes.

The owners are very nice people that welcome us warmly. The Tea Ceremony experience was really great and interesting. The owner took time to explain us deeply. The house itself was very beautiful and comfortable.

This was just a memorable experience I will bring with me for the rest of my life! We stayed in this wonderful traditional Japanese house where we had the chance to prepare our own food and spend some time with the host. He is very welcoming and even if we arrived late in the evening he waited for us to eat and then he made a tea ceremony for the duration of one hour! I can just say this was fantastic and he also took a picture with us as a gift. The room we stayed in was very big, comfortable and clean with beds on the tatami and we had a quiet night sleep. I cannot recommend it enough and I would highly suggest it as a stop if you are visiting this area.

We did not dislike these. But this is just for people who are more particular. Since the house is surrounded by nature, some insects may inevitably end up in the house. It was a shared space with the host so privacy may not be a strong suit. Lastly, we were fortunate to be the only guests staying there but there are other rooms as well, walls are thin so perhaps noisy neighbours may affect the experience. Wifi was a little slow as well. Location isnt ideal unless youre driving. The tea ceremony did take about 1 hour and its not really explicitly stated or mentioned so be prepared for that or decline if necessary! Nevertheless a wonderful stay.

Very spacious house with wonderful views and a nice background garden. Furbished with a traditional tea house as well. Wonderful experience as the tea master host offers a traditional tea tasting ceremony (with instructions on etiquette)! The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Enjoyed the free parking, amenities, shower etc. Well furnished and kept. Host was very friendly and would offer to send us off. I enjoyed living with sliding doors, and literally visiting someone’s home.

The house and room itself was beautiful, especially the garden. The host was very patient with me and my broken Japanese, answering all of my questions. Getting to experience a Japanese tea ceremony here was once in a lifetime!

The location is not good if you don't have a car. It's also kind of hard to find. Look for a big car gate with a couple of lanterns. There's a buzzer next to it by which the owner will open the gate remotely for you.

The host was very kind. He gave us an impromptu tea ceremony for free while teaching us the roles. He insisted on seeing us off in person. Meanwhile the house had nice gardens and large comfortable rooms. Almost like a ryokan. The wifi didn't work but that gives extra time to work on developing your kanji calligraphy (hehe).

    It was perfect.

The host was genuine and lovely. It's a family home/old tea house and the owner is very passionate about showing the traditions of a Japanese tea house. We expected a nice bed for the night in a Ryokan, but we also received an hour long tea ceremony all part of the very reasonably priced stay (£30 a night) It was lovely to experience and understand the process of a tea ceremony. It was equally wonderful to see the joy that a tea ceremony gave the host. His service was excellent and he made sure to be up early to make sure we left safely.

The house is a regular house, it was not made at all to welcome guests. This implies several things that can be surprising, especially considering the owner does not inform guests beforehand: - From the room where we were, you have to go through the living room and the dining room to go the toilets, which is not ideal if there are guests in the living room and you want to go to the bathroom wearing your pyjama. - Walls are very thin and not soundproof at all, so you’d better hope not to have noisy neighbours. - Doors can't be locked, so other guests could go in your room when you are not there. - The most inconvenient thing is that there is a huge shutter at the entrance of the yard (which is not on any pictures, making the house hard to find), which can only be opened by the owner (I wonder why he doesn’t lend keys to guests). This means that you can’t go in when the owner is not there, so you have to let him know your schedule and try to make it match his. It didn’t matter for us as we stayed for only two nights, but for longer stays this could be a serious problem.

This place is great if you are looking for an authentic experience in a fancy Japanese house. The tea ceremony included in the stay is also a nice occasion to learn more about Japanese culture.
