Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsPositive: Nice view from the room, the denim concept that is visible in the hostel, the great breakfast and friendly staff. Negative: The hostel is along a busy road, so sleeping with earplugs in was necessary for us as we're not used to that. Dinner choices are limited.

ThailandVery very minor thing. If you’re taller than 180cm your head will hit beams lol. Not a trouble at all. Really really exceptional stay.
The greatest stay of my trip this time. Great view, privacy, nice breakfast, close to bus station, really great experience in everything.

United KingdomThe food options, whilst tasty, are limited - it would be an issue for someone who does not eat fish or meat. The location, right next to the sea, is beautiful and accessible by bus, but reasonably remote, so you cannot easily go to the shops or other restaurants on foot (a 20 minute walk along a road without a footpath).
A unique and beautiful room by the sea, but the jewel in the crown of this hotel is the warm and happy reception from Mayuko, who greeted me like an old friend and made me feel so welcome throughout my stay. Breakfast was delicious and the private bath a real treat. Thank you.

SwitzerlandThe tent was a bit humid, so they installed a small dehumidifier, which is a bit noisy. However, they give out free earplugs! Honestly, it did not take away from the amazing experience!
The location was amazing with a view on the islands! However, there is very little around, and could be complicated access without own transport. The staff was kind and welcoming. Stayed in kumo (tent), which was amazing, super clean and comfortable with full amenities. They also offer free pour over coffee, to make yourself. It really made the experience truly unique! The shared bathroom was very clean, and spacious. They offer several free beauty amenities. They offer a sauna and meal experience at extra charge. It's great value, I would stay there again!

NetherlandsIt's kind of in the middle of nowhere, the bus comes here few times a day. But that's what you get for such a peaceful location.
The view is amazing. Staff is very caring, restaurant is nice. Bathroom and makeup room are great! I recommend the tent (Kumo)

United KingdomNot dislikes, but things to be aware of. If using public transport, the buses serving the accommodation are very infrequent. There is a vending machine a few minutes walk away, but I didn’t find a shop so consider bringing supplies. I found the hours to access the bath a little confusing, so never actually used it in the end which was a shame.
It is a very beautiful space to spend time. I was in the wooden hut with the big window, and it was a gorgeous place to relax and reset. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of space. Lots of natural light. Incredible sea view. Staff were super helpful. I had the best coffee in my 3 weeks in Japan here. Enjoyed dinner one night which was a good quality. I used it as a base to visit Naoshima. It works, but the connections for bus and boat can be infrequent so it ended up being a long day. For me it was nice to experience quality accommodation with character and attention to detail, a little off the normal traveller route in Japan.

JapanThey had a shared bathroom with one bathtub that we have to share with other people. There's no set time that you can take a bath. Sometimes it's difficult to figure out the timing when you can use the bathroom.
This place is located away from any major cities and towns. Very quiet and calm. I stayed in an ocean view Japanese style room. It was spacious for a single traveler and loved that they had a space to sit looking outside of the window.

AustraliaMight be hard to access via public transport as buses aren't always very frequent but you can usually trust google maps.
Perfect place for a getaway from the busier locations in Japan. Location has a beautiful view of the sunset (especially the Fune room). A great spot if you plan to visit attractions in areas like Naoshima and Shikoku, or if you want some peace and quiet in nature as it has good hikes and beaches nearby. Staff were great to talk to. They super friendly and helpful throughout the stay!

Saudi ArabiaBecause I took the room ‘fune’ set out facing the sea, the big windows at night with the lights on make me feel exposed to the outside. Specially that there were fishermen then.
It feels like a secret holiday house. The bath was very relaxing and you can use it privately too. The staff are very friendly, they helped providing me with alternative methods to reach the property as the direct buses stop after 7pm or so. It’s very clean and the restaurant felt very private and delicious. You can grind coffee beans in your room and read books and magazines it was a beautiful experience and design.

PolandThe place is such a gem! First of all you wake up every day with a stunning view of the Seto Inner Sea. What’s more - everything is clean, towels are fluffy, air conditioning working tirelessly, sauna with cold bath if you want, and amazing food in the restaurant. If you mention any allergies or food restrictions, the cook will go above and beyond to make you something special that is not even on the menu. But it would not be possible without the host that not only speaks perfectly in english but is very thoughtful and caring, seems really interested in your experience, finds you transportation, recommends places to visit and makes you feel welcomed and taken care of, and that is a skill not easy to find. It was our second trip to Japan, we have been traveling for a few weeks both times and that was easily our favorite place. We’ve felt safe and there was not even one spider, and that is a quality in itself in that region. 10 out of 10.

AustraliaIt was a little out of the way but that also added to the appeal. I would have liked to stay longer than one night to use the sauna and deck area. It would have been good to have breakfast included but understand it is a small place.
The staff were super friendly, it was stylish and understated. I really appreciated the little touches, tea and sweets in the room, allowing visitors to try the denim, delicious lasagne and lots of other small touches.

JapanShared Slippers was meh. toilet in a room with minimum sink was little inconvenient. As a hostel it’s good enough but because the room was like ryokan somehow ended expected more. Staff’s intro was little confusing so we were embarrassed when we were told that we can rent clothes for the day ended up returning some clothes we picked up for ourselves. Food selection at cafe was minimum, little more veggies would have been nice to have. Wine/drink selection was also minimum. It would have been nice if they had more selection.
Ocean View, spacious room, shared bathroom (big bath tub), complimentary tea quality.
