Only 1 bath connected with bath thumb for whole hotel, so it can be a problem if someone spends 1hour in a thumb. I could hear some mouses/rats through walls in my room (wooden building), but i did not see them anywhere. No kitchen, you cannot cook there (but receptionist boiled my eggs one time and gave me plates etc). there is only a room where you can eat sonething heated in microwave. The hotel should be renovated, as it looks a little bit scary. futron was quite hard and not co.fortable.

The first day I felt the place is a little bit creepy, old and not renovated, but the second day I used to it and stayed for 4nights together. The receptionists are very nice and take care of you all the time they see you (what can be even sometimes too much:) The hotel has bath thumb and massaging chairs (but old ones) and you have a separate room just for you - so it is advantage - looking at price. You have the view for fuji mountain from your room.

This hotel is just as shown in the pictures. The rooms are enough for spending there some time there and sleeping well. The main street is a little bit busy at night, if you can not sleep with some noise is better for you to buy some earplugs. The staff is really nice and helpful and the hotel is amazing (if you like the old style Japanese vibe).

    There's nothing I didn't like.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, have a room to yourself for the price of a dorm room and the have a spa pool you can use whenever you want, the best place IV stayed in in Japan as a budget traveler

If you're looking for quiet and comfy break while travelling, this is a great place to breath! I liked mostly the inside onsen open at any time, came back from trecks in the mountain and was pleasent to find a spot where to regenerize.

I have stayed at Taiya Ryokan twice. It retains an old-fashioned charm, the tatami rooms are basic but clean, and on clear days, those that look out over the main street have a fantastic view of Mt. Fuji. Steep stairs to the second and third floors. If you don't speak Japanese, a smile and a bit of effort will go a long way, and will be reciprocated by the excellent staff. There is a small bath on the first floor, as well as a communal room with refrigerator, microwave, etc., plus a library of Japanese books.

Very nice roykan with the nicest owner and Staff. We felt right at Home! I find the rooms charming, everything is kept clean and it was quiet at night. Many restaurants and bars are nearby, and the bus stop towards Fuji and shin-Fuji station is just a 3 minute walk. Will definitely stay here again should I be back in Fuji.

I didn't liked that there is a smoking terrace in the back, and if you have your bedroom next to it, you can smell the smoke if you want to open your window. Despite this was everything perfect.

Very authentic Japanese accommodation. I loved the private onsen located in the accommodation. Also I liked the authentic rooms. The staff were more than helpful. Super kind, super helpful, even if they don't speak English, they will help you with everything and translate through mobile translator.

Although I enjoyed the bath, it was a little old and grimy. That said, the bath water was perfect for soaking. Also, although I appreciated using the washing machines and detergent for free, the dryer was broken.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They spoke both English and Japanese, and were even able to help a Mandarin speaker, who checked in at the same time as me, using a translation app. The room I stayed in was a traditional Japanese room. It featured tatami mats and traditional Japanese decor. This added a lot to the experience. Also, the inn offered free use of their washing machines and even provided detergent!

Authentic Japanese Experience with a Humble, Unconventional Charm
    • Leisure trip

Despite my enthusiastic recommendation, it's important to note that the place may not be suitable for everyone, especially those seeking elaborate decor or Instagram-worthy hotels. The location is somewhat unconventional, nestled in an eclectic industrial area surrounded by old, one-story buildings. However, the abundance of convenience stores and restaurants within easy reach helps compensate for the less-than-ideal setting.

The proprietor is absolutely amazing—probably the most affable host I've ever encountered. The place itself offers an authentic Japanese experience, providing a much more genuine connection with the culture than your typical hotel. Considering the affordable nightly rate, it makes for an exceptionally cost-effective stay.

Check-out time is a bit early with 09:30 am but was no problem for us.

Nice old traditional Ryokan with a somewhat private small onsen which is really wonderful. The room is spacious, wifi worked very well and the staff is very kind and helpful! There is a common area with a fridge and water dispenser for free use.

My only issue was a small towel. I know it is a Japanese sort of thing so it was not really a big deal to me.

Atmosphere is on point, futon bed was truly comfortable and I was able to change temperature in my room which is a worth mentioning advantage. I was also happy with the view from my room - you can see Mt. Fuji during optimal weather conditions. My favorite thing about this place is the staff because they were really kind and helpful.

For those who want to experience Japanese culture, this ryokan is perfect. It will take you back in time to the Edo period. A hot bath is truly divine and relaxing. Staff extremely nice and friendly. I definitely recommend staying there.
