Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur room was quite small with no cupboard which I found very inconvenient. The hotel is located on the main street, and it looked like you couldn't stop right in front of it to drop off luggage ( we had a hire car) so we had to wheel our luggage from the nearest car park in heavy rain. Hotel is unable to book you a taxi because of it, but you are allowed to hail one or order an Uber yourself.
Good for a short stay and if you have minimal luggage.

AustraliaThe staff were unfriendly & unwelcoming. I was in a wheelchair & we requested use of the hotel's wheelchair car space for our car. They refused for us to use it & in fact lied that it was booked out - when in fact it was never used at all over the 3 days we were there. This and the various staff demeanor over three days was most unpleasant & has put us off ever staying in a Tokyo Stay again.
Having 2 chairs & table in the room.

IrelandVery noisy. Our room was on the road and the noise came through as if the window was open (it wasn’t of course). Also, no Smart TV option and only Japanese channels are available. Blinds not completely blackout.
Big room for Japanese standards. Location is good in the middle of the city. It’s not the closest to the train station (20 min walk but with luggage it’s not the best) but there’s a bus stop right under the hotel. Very clean and good body/hair products. English speaking staff who was very nice. They kept our luggage before check in and you have a feee washer/dryer in the room!

United StatesWe are a family of four from the US on a two-week trip to Japan. This is the only hotel we rated poorly. The staff was not friendly to us. It was pouring down rain so I requested the front desk call a taxi for us, and they said their policy was no. We didn't have a Japanese phone number to call ourselves, plus the language barrier, but they refused to help. Then, I requested their help to call the tour guide to confirm plans, and they would not make the phone call. I don't recommend this hotel if you expect to need any services from the staff.
This hotel was clean and the in-room laundry facilities were convenient.

United Kingdomthe staff - unwillingness to help. e.g wanted to book a taxi, but could not due to law issues. however, I did suggest that I would book the taxi but would require help with translation but they did not help. no water in the rooms. just generally did not feel welcome at the property. early check in not available very expensive for one night.
rooms were clean, comfortable - had its own washing machine - but did not know how to use. location is not too bad

FinlandThe shower curtain in the room was unbearably foul-smelling, luckily when we complained the staff arranged another room for us. We asked for an additional duvet because we didn’t want to share one, but they could only give us a woolen blanket and flat sheet instead. Staff said they couldn’t cal a taxi for us so we had to walk with two very heavy pieces of luggage to the taxi stop (which wasn’t very close).
Location on the main street close to restaurants, close to the castle and park. Relatively comfortable beds, fridge and washing machine in the room were a big plus. Large containers of shampoo /shower gel at our disposal. Good soundproofing, did not have any issues sleeping despite being sound-sensitive.

United Statesyou can’t book a room at this location through booking.com. all of the rooms are designated Japan travel voucher rooms. this is fine if you provide both, but when I showed up and had to change the booking I found out it was another 8k yen more than what I was expecting to pay. if the hotel just provided an option for non travel voucher everything would have been great.

PortugalThe breakfast was very poor, mainly asian and very little options for the high price ! They couldn’t make dinner reservations for us and when I asked why, I was told it was superior orders. Next day, we had a bus to catch at the station and asked the front desk to call us a taxi, which they denied, saying they couldn’t. I asked for the closet taxi stop, and they gave me a card with taxi numbers so I could call for one .. well I don’t have a Japanese phone to call (and don’t pay for an international call) and I don’t speak Japanese .. The hotel is new and have nice areas, but their policy clearly doesn’t focus on the client experience.
the rooms where big for Japan standard and the location was very good, walking distance from all interest points.

AustraliaThe actual bedroom area was very cramped. It was difficult to get around our 2 bits of luggage.
Great location and the fact that there was a washer/dryer in the room at the entry. We had arrived in Kanazawa after a week skiing and we really appreciated the convenience of the in-room laundry facilities.

AustraliaNot family friendly. There were more business travellers. We travelled with children and wanted to check out the breakfast buffet before we decide on purchasing for family of four. We would have happily paid for four days if they allowed. We weren’t allowed to have a look. On our last day we asked for a taxi tl take us to the station with luggages . They said they weren’t allowed to call a taxi for us. As we don’t speak Japanese it was difficult for us to call. Uber doesn’t work in Kanazawa so we had to hail a taxi on the Main Street. It was raining and we had two young kids.

AustraliaI wish that there were more ammenities such as an onsen. Breakfast was quite expensive 2200 YEN.
Large room that comfortably fit our two large suitcases with space. Handy to have a table and chairs in the room. The washing machine was a lifesaver and the provided laundry detergent was an extra bonus. The bed was really comfortable. I would definitely recommend this accommodation to friends and family. AustraliaBreakfast has minimal options and didn’t look great for a buffet. The most difficult thing was that the Hotel Staff WOULD NOT (could not because of a road rule..) CALL US A TAXI. Because we can’t speak Japanese we could not also we needed a bigger taxi due to luggage. And it was raining. Anyone Japanese staying I could see just called a taxi themselves to the hotel..
Beds are sooo comfortable - not too soft and supportive. Rooms are clean and facilities good. Staff are nice.

United KingdomNothing - a perfect city hotel.
Outstanding hotel in the perfect location for sight-seeing in Kanazawa. We booked about 10 minutes before checking in (due to issues at another hotel) and couldn’t have been more delighted - the room was so comfortable and clean, excellent facilities, perfect location. And the bottomless complimentary coffee for guests in the lobby is a bonus!
