This wonderful little house is full of traditional Japanese character and such good value for money if you are travelling on a budget. The owner is very friendly and informative. The location is fabulous opposite the picturesque railway station with a restaurant and shop nearby. A well stocked self catering kitchen allows for cooking your own food and we slept very well. A great experience!

Nothing only awesome! A girl from Tokyo in Love the area taught us so much, too. Awesome souls gather around this old home

Exceptional! Such cute town right by Eiheiji, shouldn't miss it. The place is a traditional house with large volume of rooms and facilities. So special from the history and craftsmanship and kind hosts and stories they tell us if we catch them. People in town are so so friendly. Shy in the beginning but only 5 minutes after, like old relatives. Highly recommended to take time and stay chez Sakai!

There was not much covering the windows, so the bright morning light woke us up early. Since the house is so close to the train tracks, we heard the noise each time it passed.

The house is authentic and cozy. The room was large, with a nice view of the garden. The kitchen was very useful and well-equipped. It was about a 60 second walk to the train station - so convenient!

While the location is not far from Eiheji, it is not especially close either. Expect 35-40 mins travel time unless you have a car.

The house is beautiful, and the owner is extremely friendly and helpful. The check in process was easy and informative. I enjoyed having access to a full kitchen. I stayed in two different rooms- I would recommend the one-bed that is adjacent to a garden, very beautiful. This place is especially perfect for solo travellers and couples wanting to keep it low-key, since the walls are made from traditional Japanese paper and sound does travel.

You may have to prepare the food or buy it from outside. There is one convenient store away but take 25 mins walk.

This traditional japanese house is a hidden gem! The house has nice decoration. The room is spacious & comfy. You have a corrider and tea table outside. The bathroom & toilets are shared. They were clean. The owner is really nice. Useful info: It took 1.30 hours from Kanazawa to reach here. There is a local train station right in front of the house. However, there was no disturbing sound of it. We had a great time staying in the house. Totally recommended.

My only real complaint is that the WiFi was very very slow so I couldn't upload my photos to the cloud that night. Not too much of an issue for one night but might be a problem for longer stays.

The authentic Japanese house experience, the location was very convenient to get to from Fukui station and good access to Daihonzan Eiheiji via bus. The host was helpful with showing me around the property even though I checked it a bit late and there were plenty of amenities, even if I didn't end up using them since I only stayed a night. I also liked the kotatsu, I probably spent a solid hour just melting under it after a long day of hiking. The bed was also very nice - pre-heated and actually soft unlike most of the other hotels I've stayed at in Japan which I prefer. Lastly, there were very clear instructions in English in the room with pictures so checking out was a breeze.

It is listed as an apartment which it is not, it's a Share House/Dorm . U have to translate the name to see it is. There is plastic separating the top part of the rooms so u can hear everything from next door and there is a window so people can see right into ur bed from outside the house (no curtain etc)

Nice looking place , gives a nice traditional feel and the owner is nice. Very close to the station
