Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThe first impression of Tabist Kazeyuki is wonderful. The reception area is very inviting. Soothing music is playing. The staff is very friendly and speaks good English. The room is very comfortable and spacious. Unfortunately, the hotel is also showing its age: screens have holes, the wallpaper is peeling off, carpets and door handles have dirt spots. The onsen has moldy spots and is dated. Slippers and kimonos are offered, but each customer only gets one towel. A small fee is charged for an extra towel.

United StatesNot a lot of food options at the hotel or in the town really but that’s not their fault. The ones that are there are very close and walkable.
The private onsen’s were the best part of staying here. Even though there were three, I never had a problem getting a room. The Mountain View’s are incredible.

AustraliaThe twin automatic doors where you take off and put on your shoes kept opening while sitting to take on/off shoes letting the cold in, weird complaint but I don't have anything else bad to say!
While a lot further out of Takayama than I had expected, we were greeted with a gorgeous little town comprised of a few places to stay, eat and a general store. The reception was warm and welcoming, and shoes must be left at the front door. The room was very roomy, warm and comfortable with a fantastic view. The onsens are fully private, simply by taking the open/closed signs on the door and looking them from the inside. This was a wonderful way to have a mixed bath with your partner and there are 4 baths to use. One of which was outdoors and was very fun to be in as it was snowing during our stay and being outside and bathing was quite the adventure! The room had its own bathroom and shower as well.

MalaysiaAlthough there were no restaurant in the ryokan they serve microwavable foods.
The ryokan is very close to Nohi bus station which is very convenient. The rooms are tatami style with a view of the mountains. It is also very spacious and comes with a toilet and bathtub. The onsen is private and well maintained. Overall we had a good stay.

PhilippinesThe only downside is that the property has no restaurant so you have to go out to eat breakfast or dinner. Not sure if other guests have also spotted the Kappa and the sleeping woman on the 4th floor rooms, but they mind their own business, so please be respectful of their space too.
I would have to agree with most of the reviews I’ve read before booking this property. It is by far the best place I’ve stayed in in Japan after all those years travelling in the country and without breaking my budget. The property features Japanese-style family rooms which are spacious and the limited number of rooms make you feel like you’re in an exclusive company. It is located in a picturesque village and the view in winter is just amazing. The private onsen is a treat for families to experience the hot springs together. And the outdoor onsen is quite an experience. Imagine soaking in the hot pool with the snow falling on your head. Despite the hour-long bus ride to the city of Takayama and the limited schedule of buses to the place, I would still recommend booking this place specially after the rush from visting Japan’s busy cities such as Tokyo. The property is walking distance from the bus terminal (less than 5 minutes in snowy weather) so no need to worry if there are no taxis around. There are also attractions along the way which we weren’t able to visit such as the Shinnotaka ropeway and the Hida caves. The village is famous enough for its hot springs, so just staying there is already a treat.

AustraliaNothing.
The view was breathtaking as I had never seen beautiful snow views like that before. It was easy to move around in the area and you could easily find things you need even though the hotel doesn't provide food itself. The staff members are very friendly and helpful, and willing to go above and beyond when we needed some help. I love the outdoor onsen in particular. I was a bit worried if we couldn't use it before we arrived because we were told it was 'first come, first serve'. It was actually available most of the time so we got to use it twice during our 1 night stay. Awesome experience.

We had the pleasure of staying at Tabist Kazeyuki in Hirayu Onsen, and it was a truly memorable experience. The room was spacious, with a cozy Japanese tatami style that added an authentic touch to my stay. It was incredibly comfortable and peaceful, offering the perfect retreat after a day of exploring the area. One of the highlights was the private onsen, both indoor and outdoor, a wonderful way to relax and soak in the natural hot spring water in the comfort of your own room. The ambiance was serene, and the warm, rejuvenating baths made it feel like a personal spa experience. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the atmosphere of the hotel was very traditional in the heart of Hirayu Onsen, is ideal for those seeking tranquility and a taste of Japanese hospitality. We highly recommend Tabist Kazeyuki for anyone looking for a cozy and rejuvenating stay with an authentic private onsen experience.
