Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Thailand- No dinner avialable, if you do not reserve in advance.
- Onsen in hotel is great, feel like private when you occupy because it has sign hang in front of the room when you use it (use for 30mins each time). - hotel has the basic facillities that you need. - close to Hirayu bus terminal, take from Matsumoto or Takayama. Also, can take bus to Kamikochi from here. - Staff has good service mind. Explain everything that you need to know. (Awesome😀)

Czech Republicthis place takes you to the heaven within the japanese alps, with beautiful onsen to take during the day. even though you can tell this place has been around for a while, with its older type of room, it still feels fresh and clean with a nostalgic feel. the views were amazing and is really peaceful

United Kingdomeverything was just absolutely perfect!
Absolutely fantastic stay in a beautiful, authentic ryokan in Hirayu Onsen. In the past, I was several times in Hirayu, stayed in different hotels, but this one beats all others, in all respects. Clean/spacious room, fridge, A/C, all amenities. The easy availability of 4 (3 were working at that time) private onsens is a tremendous asset of this hotel, I used them several times per day! Hosts (a nice couple) are extremely friendly and helpful, was absolute pleasure to communicate with them. Very close to the bus stop (5 minutes walk, or less?), the same to a couple of restaurants, a local shop (2 minutes?). Absolutely recommended!

IsraelThe place is very nice with spacious rooms. There are four different hot spring baths, including a lovely open-air bath. It's conveniently located near the bus station, making it easy to reach the nature reserve in the morning and return later.

NetherlandsNo meal service and restaurants nearby were kind of busy, where we had to wait for a small while. Onsens were also kind of busy in the evening, so you might have to wait for a bit as well.
The onsen was amazing and the rooms itself were very nice as well. Location is very close to a bus terminal, and check in is quick and easy. Kamikochi is very easy to get to by bus and is very nice to hike around.

United StatesWe are glad we tried it for 2 nights but don't think we could have stayed any longer sleeping on the thin mattress on the floor. While the outdoor onsen was nice we briefly checked out the indoor onsens and they didn't look clean.
The room was clean and quiet with a great view of the mountains. We enjoyed drinking tea in the sitting area in front of the window. Unfortunately, the bigger outdoor onsen was closed but we got to enjoy the smaller outdoor onsen which was very nice. The bus stop to get to Kamikochi Valley is a five-minute walk from the hotel which was very convenient. There are a few restaurants and shops within walking distance. Heads up- You are required to take your shoes off at the entrance to the hotel and put them on a rack in a shoe closet. This was the first hotel we had to do this in Japan (normally you can leave shoes at the entrance of your room).

United KingdomA few of the onsen dressing rooms were a little dirty, with mold. Other than that everything was great.
The location is beautiful. It’s a little out of the way, not near any station really but that’s part of the charm. It’s excellent for anyone going to Kamikochi. The onsen are really lovely and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff were super friendly too!

This hotel is in a great location. It’s very close to the bus terminal and a few little local restaurants. The rooms are very clean and the private Onsen’s are amazing. The staff are so kind and caring. I lost my purse and didn’t realise till 1 hour before our bus was due to come to take us back to Tokyo. Suu Nii Taa came with me to the local streets and helped me track it down. It had fallen out of my pocket at a local restaurant the day before and It had been handed into the police station. Needless to say I managed to get it back (with all my cards, drivers licence, cash and bus tickets) and just make my bus on time. Thank you Tabist staff and Suu Nii Taa in particular.

SingaporeOne of the onsens was not as well maintained, with water- logged drainage. Fortunately the other 2 rooms were ok for use We opted for the Jap style rooms as we normally like futons but the bedding was a little thin so not as comfortable.
Location was very convenient as a base to Kamikochi. Just 5 mins to the bus terminal and a short bus ride. 3 private onsens available for use. Not crowded so it was nice to be able to hop in whenever we wanted. Room for 4 was reasonably spacious. There were cushions and chairs to lounge around in. Outdoor onsen was very pretty too, though a little inconvenient as there were no showering facilities there.
