Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanI can't think of any criticism about this place!
This whole experience was such a pleasant surprise. The rooms were clean and smelled good (like tatami), the bedding was comfortable, the checkin and checkout processes were easy, and the location was great, in a quiet area with a great view of fuji and a short walk to the lake.

United StatesEverthing to us, is perfect.
I love the traditional feel of their rooms. They are clean and spacious. The staff are amazing. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and at home. I will definetely go back when there’s a chance. As to the location it’s abt a taxi ride from the train station. Taxi cost is about 960 yen which is really cheap and convenient.

SingaporeA bit far from the bus station.
Comfortable room and beds. Shower and spa is typically Japanese which is good experience for foreigners 👍. Room provided with kettle so one can enjoy a cup of hot tea in the room. The room comes with attached toilet (but no bath) is also a nice feature. Love it

JapanBath is in a separate building - would be nice to have bathing option on the same floor at least. It was hard to locate staff when we wanted to rent bikes.
Very clean, everything in good condition, basic amenities, great value, close to the lake (less than 10 min walk). Staff was very nice. Overall great stay for the price!

United StatesIt was like a 25-minute walk from Kawaguchiko Station but we expected that!
very affordable for our group of three. The front desk staff was very responsive and polite, and gave us a great overview of the accommodation and the amenities available. We loved soaking in the small onsen in the adjacent building. Too bad it was super cloudy when we were there, otherwise we would have had a great view of Mt. Fuji from our window!

Japan食事は、わたしのように50代には多いですが、若者にはちょうど良いです。
The staff here is very courteous and helpful, and the Japanese are wonderful. The view of Mt. Fuji from most of the rooms is excellent. The exterior of the building looks old, but the interior has been renewed, with spacious rooms, new tatami mats and toilets, and very comfortable bedding, especially the futons and pillows. The coziness is very comfortable, and it is a wonderful inn. The uniquely Japanese mixed bath is not large, but the shampoo and other amenities are of high quality, which is nice for women. Also, everything that others have said about the hair in the bath was improved, quickle paper was placed in the room and in the changing rooms, and the bath water was hot and full to overflowing. It was nice to be able to clean my own hair with quickle paper. I heard that you can rent bicycles to go to Kawaguchi Lake, so I would like to use them next time. I would definitely use this hotel again. Thank you very much.

JapanWe were staying on the second floor and the steps were really steep, and polished very well, so a little slippery. As I have very bad knees, it was a struggle going up and down. Apart from this, I wish there could be an option to have a screen for a little privacy while having a shower. I am from a different culture and not comfortable with open-space shower rooms. Finally, we asked for directions to drive to the fifth station on Mt Fuji but something was really lost in translation as the staff sent us to the fifth railway station of Mt Fuji instead. So, we couldn't actually get to the mountain after all because it got too late.
The staff was very friendly, polite and extremely helpful. We were delighted that they provided a bed for our pet and two feeding bowls, a fur picker, and sanitizer and poop bags. I think the fine print about the 4000 yen extra charge per pet should be highlighted before, not after the booking is made. It seemed a little steep for one night but the politeness and friendliness of the staff made it a worthwhile experience.

MalaysiaNothing really.
Superb value of money. We didn’t mind the location, it is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, yet near to the the main station by bicycle. We rented a bicycle which costed only 1,100 yen per pax for entire stay, best decision we’ve made as it saves time to walk/wait for the bus, and there’s free bicycle parking at Kawaguchiko station. The room is spacious for two medium size luggage. We didn’t mind the public bath at another building, we enjoyed the hot shower and relaxed in the warm bath. Drinking water is available at the same floor as our room. The tatami style room is cozy, air conditioner is working fine. I’ll recommend anyone who’s fit to cycle , to rent the bicycle during the stay. Scenic route to cycle from the ryokan to Yagizaki Park nearby, or even to the lake near Kukuna hotel. Very convenient to cycle to Kawaguchiko station. There’s some eateries near by accessible by cycling (We had dinner at a small izakaya name Red Well, and lunch at Yamaboushi which is another hidden gem! Ogino supermarket is also nearby) Overall this accommodation and the bicycle rental made my experience in Kawaguchiko a memorable one.

United KingdomQuiet location with a great view of Mt Fuji! The futon was incredibly comfortable and I fell asleep in its warm embrace even as the neighbours were being noisy and talking loudly. The hot bath was a nice bonus (but you have to walk to a separate building for it (and to shower on general), probably uncomfortable when it is cold!).

United Stateslots of foreigners seemed to freak out when they saw the shower/bath. it literally tells you. and you are in Japan. learn to adapt. everyone is just trying to wash off not look at people naked. get over it. can be a little outside the main area, but also the location is pinned on a map. look at things before you book. that’s your own fault not the hotels.
great bath, clean. big rooms, great view of Mount Fuji!
