Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanFood was a small issue for me since the hotel is a bit out of the way and I didn’t have a car. But I got a really nice breakfast which was very sweet. They also have a mini konbini for noodles and snacks.
Very friendly family! They gave good recommendations on the area and went out of their way to give me a pleasant stay. I didn’t realise how beautiful Kumano was, it was a very fun walking around the area! Since I was here in early April, the path down the mountain was covered in blooming sakura. The bed was really soft and comfortable. I also liked that the room had a bath to relax in after the day.

SpainLovely place, lovely location, lovely room and lovely family. Probably my favourite stay during my solo trip, the owners were so kind and English explanations about the area were really good. The room was lovely with a nice sea view and the tatami floor is quite interesting , the kumano downtown is close and peaceful but have all the facilities you need. Highly recommend if you are interested in kumano kodo or travelling around Wakayama.

SingaporeIt's run by a family of 3 and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome with homemade cheesecake! It is also only 3 mins walk to Onigajyo, so it's a great base for sightseeing in Kumano.

It was run by a small family and they paid attention to every detail, giving us a welcome cheesecake and apple juice on the house. We could come back anytime with the room key and the room was well equipped with everything we needed.

United KingdomMy room was quite close to the road so as a light sleeper the sound of running cars sometime bothered me. The house is located quite far from the nearest train station. Not a lot of local bus so plan your travel well.
Definitely was the best stay I had. During my stay the house master’s son really took care of me. The place was very clean and comfortable. Great view!

MalaysiaToilets a bit out dated.
Just close by the road, next to the bus stop. A little noisy in the daytime but luckily there was not much traffic at night. The house was a little old but very well kept and clean and partly renovated. Just a little disappointed that the toilet were still of the older non automated version. The host treated us to a little cheesecake and juice upon our arrival, and so helpful to send us off to the railway station when we asked for help. The bus timing is rather sparse after 8 in the morning, and there is no bus until the evening. There is a hotel Hotel Nami on the opposite side of the road where you can get food for a decent price, otherwise this area is very quiet aside from the Onigajo cliffs attractions on the opposite side of the road.

GermanyNothing comes to mind
Amazing accommodation, super nice hosts, they are really helpful in every regard and I enjoyed the cheese cake a lot! The room was huge, it was more like three rooms and I liked the authentic vibes. Nevertheless it seemed like the bed was just recently upgraded to a western style standard, in case this is of importance to you. I think the location was really nice, if you plan on hiking along the kumano kodo you are in a brilliant spot, there is a beautiful cliff walk just 2 min away and it is also great for watching the sunrise.

BelgiumThe guesthouse is close to the Kumano kodo yards, but a 30-minute walk from the station. However, the owners take you to the station/city centre as soon as possible.
The welcome was super warm, with a piece of cake and tea as a bonus. The family who run the guesthouse are very attentive and kind. The bedding was incredible!
