We had a wonderful time in Sado Island. Hanaya guesthouse is a former ryokan, full of charm and very clean. It is located next to Ogi port, which is ideal when arriving by ferry boat. Our host was very helpful and got us plenty of recommendations during our stay ! A lovely place when seeking for calm and nature in Japan.

    Nothing to complain about.

The location of this guesthouse is great. Important spots in Ogi (super markets, restaurants, the tourist info, etc.) can be easily reached by foot. It is also only a couple of steps away from the sea (although it is recommended to travel along the coast a bit to truly appreciate it). We got two rooms which (based on my understanding) where quite traditional (which was one of my reasons for chosing this place, so it definitely delivered). The stuff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke good English, making this guest house a great destination for international travellers (they even had a German map of Ogi!).

Nothing at all. The house was perfect.

Kota-San was very helpful and welcoming! He also spoke excellent English and really made an effort to communicate with me and my girlfriend. The guest house is very nice, a renovated former ryokan, so it is quite traditional. The amenities were great, the house really has everything you would need. The location was perfect! It was really close to the Ogi port, so during Earth Celebration, It is very convenient. Overall my stay here was wonderful. I will definitely be back.

I think the toilet stall on the 2nd floor men's bathroom is not meant for adults. It's very cramped. For a very comfortable toilet experience, I had to go to the first floor.

The owner was very friendly and gave us good recommendations on where to go and what to eat. The style of the guesthouse was kitschy and nostalgic. The location was very close to restaurants and the port that we got off at.

Because it is an old building, it is susceptible to vibrations. However, the staff are always careful.

The summer of 2023 was very hot. I used it as a lodging on the first day of my trip along the traversing route of Mt. Donden with my mother. This hotel is located near Ogi Port and is a renovated Japanese restaurant, with a luxurious exterior. The interior has been designed with a variety of features to make it feel like a comfortable hostel, with a large kitchen where anglers can also prepare their fish. Tableware and free seasonings are also available, so you can buy fresh ingredients and cook them to enjoy the feeling of being at a luxury inn. We bought local sashimi at a nearby supermarket. It was delicious enough. The next day, we enjoyed the night view and starry sky at Mt. Dongden, and the traversal route we walked the next day was amazing.thank you.

    Absolutely nothing.

Kota-san (host) was exceptionally welcoming, informative and friendly. He has gone so far as to hand draw a map of the local area, complete with eating options, and has translated it into English. How incredibly thoughtful. Great amenities, kitchen was filled with every applicance/utensil you could need.

Haneya is a great guesthouse. Takeuchi and staff are very welcoming and friendly. The guesthouse itself has a real Showa (retro) charm to it - the kitchen facilities are great as is the rest of the guesthouse. We had a great 2 night stay here.

You might have to wait for the shower to be available if the guest house is full.

I love the interior design. There was a lot of thought put into the planning and making it feel like home. The shared kitchen was also perfect as it has everything, including basic ingredients like oil and soy sauce. Thank you for being amazing hosts!

The place is an old ryokan turned into a guesthouse. You can feel the history behind it, and I really like the vibe. You can use the kitchen freely so its nice to buy food in the supermarket and cook your meals. They recently opened a cafe too so you can enjoy coffee in their lounge room. Its really realxing there.
