Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BangladeshIt was a great time to stay there. The owners were very friendly and humble. If you’re traveling solo and want to save money, definitely consider this inn.

United StatesOne minor thing was a frying pan in poor condition. I didn’t plan to cook, but am celiac and had nothing to eat, so had to cook. Managed to cook smth like ramen in a pot.
This was such a cozy space. I never felt as comfortable as I did here, not even in the fancy townhouse in Kyoto. I hope to come back sometime in the future.

CanadaThe only thing I will say is, the hallways and bathrooms get a little cold in the winter. My room itself was lovely and warm.
This place is so beautiful and quaint. It is a perfect little traditional Japanese guesthouse and such a lovely stay for my two nights in Kinosaki. The staff is so kind and helpful. This is a great option for female travellers who want a traditional place to stay, without the price of a ryokan.

United KingdomBeautiful traditional building, lovely staff, incredibly clean, very comfortable traditional beds. I also want to mention that even though it was a particularly cold period my room was wonderfully warm and I had my own heater. The location was perfect - right in the middle of all the different onsen but off the main road so the building was very quiet and peaceful.

A Ryokan-like hostel, where you experience the japanese hospitality just as if you were in a real Ryokan. The owners are really sweet and everything is provided so you have the best stay. I loved the living room and sleeping space that are really traditional and comfortable with the futons and tatamis. Each guest has its own little space and this intimacy is really nice at the end of an onsen day. The location is perfect and I walked to every place I needed to go, with onsens at only 3-4 minutes by foot.

The owner was really welcoming and give me suggestions about the onsen in Kinosaki. The guesthouse is located in a very traditional Japanese house, I loved it. I slept on a very comfy futon. The owner gives also a complete set of yukata for going to the onsen (it was really cute). The guesthouse is also located very close to the onsen.

Very clean and well maintained! Loved the traditional tatami room, it felt very authentic. Great location, right in the heart of Kinosaki. I had so much fun exploring all the onsens. And Kinosaki itself is BEAUTIFUL. Host was really helpful explaining everything, especially how to put on the yukata (which they provide!) You could totally ask her if you have any questions about how to use the onsens. Beautiful little hike to Onsenji Temple and amazing experience with the monk there. You’re suppose to go to the temple first and make an offering before exploring the onsens. Then go to Mandara-yu onsen first! I loved learning the history of Kinosaki.

United KingdomThis was my favourite stay of months of travelling. The whole space was immaculate, the rooms were surprisingly private, you were a 15 second walk from the river Main Street, the Yukata provided was glorious and I got a fresh on each day with geta also provided. The staff couldn’t have been kinder, so cheerful and eager to help with anything. I got a load of laundry done and it was brought to my room smelling wonderful and folded immaculately. Staying here was like a retreat, and equally like being cared for by family. It rejuvenated me wholeheartedly.

GermanyI have a sensitive nose and there is a slight musty/mold smell throughout the house. I had to open the windows all the way and air out my room. Also only having hot water in the kitchen/shower was unfortunate but fine. And lastly you can hear everything, so if someone gets up early or flushes at night, you hear it. It makes it feel like you’re in a real home with family haha, but bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.
So cozy and traditional, I felt at home. For the price, can’t be beat. Comfortable futon bed. The owner is very kind and sweet, providing onsen small towel, yukata and bag. Location is perfect. Kitchen has everything you need for a small meal.

United KingdomIt's one of the best guesthouses I have had the pleasure of staying in! The hosts were so very welcoming and helpful, making my trip to Kinosaki feel very special. The guesthouse itself was very beautiful, clean, and well looked after. The room and shared facilities had everything you could need for a relaxing stay in Kinosaki. During my stay, I received a Yukata, furoshiki, small towel, and most importantly, some excellent advice for my Onsen visits. For any woman travelling to Kinosaki, I recommend staying at Guesthouse Kinosaki Wakayo if you want a truly wonderful experience!

The staff/owner was very friendly and nice. She speaks very good english. The place was immaculate. The toilets were clean. I didnt use their shower since i tried the public baths in Kinosaki. The room was big enough and was clean. Can eat and socialise in the shared living room. Cannot check in early but can leave the bags there. I will stay here again in case i visit Kinosaki again because of the lovely owner.
