Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe shower doesn't get super hot so it's a bit rough in the winter months. Location is far from any shops or transport hubs, but that can also be considered a bonus if you're after some tranquility
The owner is incredibly friendly and speaks great english, there was free use of bicycles, the guest house is incredibly old and charming which gives it a really authentic rural charm.

New ZealandThe heat is very uncomfortable to sleep in during summer. If you struggle with sleeping in the heat, plan accordingly. Especially if you are slept in the roof.
We loved the location and value for money.

JapanIf you're afraid of insects, be prepared to encounter them. There are big beetles and spiders. This is a real village, and they are part of nature. However, the spiders are friendly and do not cause any inconvenience. Love nature!
It was very pleasant to immerse in the atmosphere of a Japanese village. In front of the house, there's a BBQ area where you can grill dinner and chat around the campfire. There is a good shower and toilet. There's a wide selection of rental bicycles. The location is very convenient with many attractions nearby.

Czech RepublicRustic old house in countryside with welcoming host (who speaks English) and a great communal feel. Bring some food to cook in shared kitchen or barbecue and experience cooking rice in the old wood stove.

ThailandIt was great to spend a time and do something interesting together with the guesthouse family here. I was staying during countdown period and so there were new year activities here like making mochi, calligraphy, and so on. Also, I love the owner family’s hospitality.

BelgiumOnly thing which could be improved is to have more ventilators aiming at the top bunk beds which can be quite warm. Other than that nothing to add, thanks again Ryota!
Ryota is a great host, if you have the opportunity to join the BBQ or any other event, I highly recommend you to do so! It was also super nice to use his bikes and explore the beautiful surroundings!

AustraliaRyota and his family have created a beautiful and comfortable hostel in a 140 year old traditional Japanese home. It felt very special to stay there, especially with such a friendly and interesting host. We were very lucky to stay at the same time as some other lovely people and we had great chats. Highly recommend!

JapanThere were only two table fans in the room where 8 PPL were sleeping. Definitely insufficient cooling for middle of summer. I couldn't sleep at night because it was uncomfortably hot.
It was a short walk from the bus stop.

FranceIt has the drawbacks of an old house: - no sound isolation, so you may have difficulties sleeping if there are people chatting in the common space (all the more since it's right next to the rooms); - no temperature isolation, so it can be very warm and humid in summer, especially since there is no air conditioner (and it's probably freezing in winter); - dozens of insects and spiders everywhere in the house (the owner doesn't want to kill them or use repellent), some of them being quite scary (bigger than a smartphone). Also, charging customers for a towel and even for soap and shampoo while you already charge them almost 100 dollars for one (very basic) room seems a bit mean...
- If you want to experience a traditional old wooden Japanese house (more than 100 years old), it's a great opportunity to do so; - The location is also great: a few kilometers away from the city, with many rice fields around; - The owner lives in a modern house just a few meters away, so it's convenient if you need anything (and his kids are also kind and helpful); - Even though it's a old house, the owner invested in order to install modern toilets and showers.
