How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The only thing I didn't love was the showers. I found them difficult to get into a comfortable positioning, so to speak.
Very nice location, clean rooms (which they cleaned every day!), good beds, and an overall positive experience.

Great location and comfortable bed. Even though the room was a bit small (like most places in Tokyo) it had everything you need and was really clean.

Really small room and the bed takes up most of it. OK for a couple of nights and if you are out all day. No laundry or restaurant, but a bunch of food options and convenience stores nearby. Good value for money.
5 min walk to Higashi Shinjuku subway station and 20 min walk to Shinjuku station. Clean and in a quiet and safe neighborhood.

The location was great and the staff were very friendly at check in and every day in passing. Offered umbrellas which was definitely needed as we hadn’t planned for the weather. Thank you for making our first time in Japan great!

From our room, you can hear the steps of the upstairs guests. The hotel is not the issue. Some people just don't have the conscious effort not to make any loud noises.
The staffs were really helpful and very accomodating.

The shower handles in my room were difficult to work

The room is quite small. It is expected as it was mentioned before in the post.
The staff is friendly and really helpful. They really guide us properly when we check-in. They also provided room services everyday.

The beds could have been more comfortable and also two pillows would have been a treat.
Perfect locations right next to the higashi shinjuku line. Easy to get everywhere in Tokyo. Also the use of the washing machine and dryer was an added bonus. Staff change towels daily and empty the bin which was helpful as we did a lot of shopping.

The rooms were a little cramped but that’s to be expected for the price and location. They come with a table and two chairs but a small couch and coffee table would have probably made the room feel more homely and comfortable.
The location was quiet and right next to the subway line so super convenient. The receptionist was really nice, friendly, accommodating and helped us out with calling one of the restaurants we pre booked to change our reservation.

Room was small. We knew it when we booked it, of course, but I didn't expect it to be that tight. Despite that however, it had everything we needed-- fridge, slippers, even a water heater. Toilet was also small but facilities were good, so as long as you accept how small it is, then there weren't any problems anymore.
Location was really good. Walking distance from metro stations and very close to convenience stores, restaurants and supermarkets. It was easy to find as well. The room had all the amenities (including very good toiletries!) and was cleaned regularly. Staff were very nice and helpful.

The room is unique with the bed set up bunk bed style. Not bad or good just very atypical for a hotel room.
Near Shinjuku proper and the neighboring Koreatown yet far enough away to be in a quiet area.

Not child friendly. Tiny rooms. Tiny space. Very claustrophobic and so noisy.
A walk away from Shinjuku and lots of restaurants in the area. Value for money.

Skip the disposable slippers
Higashi Shinjuku station is around the corner. Walking distance to main areas, decent room space for 2 adults. Clean towels & sheets. Lift to rooms.

The bed was horrible and had no support. The room above was very noisy - you can hear foot steps and the bathroom right above you.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room size was decent for Tokyo. We opted for the bed to be above us to ensure we had space for our 3 big suitcases on the main floor.

Bed was a bit too soft to my liking and bathtub was tiny, have to shower sideways. Wish it's just slightly wider.
staff was very helpful, place is very close to the Higashi-Shinjuku station less than 3 mins walk, and quiet neighbourhood. Near korea town, within walking distance to Shinjuku main areas.
