Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceHotel graphy is in a very quiet neighborhood, close to a station and Ueno Parc. If you're more into videogames it's also an easy access for Akihabara ! I was in a dorm for 4 and it was spacious and very confortable ! Common space are great too :)

TaiwanIt's a bit inconvenient to have to re-enter the password every time I switch WiFi as I move to different locations.
I like the atmosphere in the hotel, the friendly staff, and the beer.

CanadaAbout 17 minute walk to the train station isnt easiest with bags, the subway station is more accessible. I also struggled with the laundry machine, takes a long time and is mostly in japanese but is free! so thats a bonus!
Awesome facilities! The kitchen is amazing, computers you can use, lots of common space to talk to people. Restaurant is lovely many vegan options!! Beautiful hotel, lovely staff would 100% come back! Love the Ueno area, and close to the park!

South AfricaThe walls were quite thin so you could hear your neighbors. But this wasn’t really a huge issue.
A very cool hotel. They have thought of everything you might want from a hotel. The location was excellent and within easy walking distance to a station. It’s a cute and quiet neighborhood. There are lots of different facilities at the hotel which guests can use. The staff were helpful and very polite. There’s a fully equipped kitchen which is great and I would have used it if I had stayed for a longer period.

United KingdomThe staff were friendly and professional. The communal areas are welcoming and inviting, with a great atmosphere. You can sit in a communal area and have a serendipitous conversation or mind your own business and sit alone. The design allows for both. I really want to go back.

SingaporePoor experience with the laundry facilities, as only one machine was working, and the others were out of order for the entire 8-night stay.
We had a great stay in a reasonably sized bedroom for two. The location was good, near both Nezu and Ueno stations, as well as close to some delicious local restaurants.

SlovakiaWifi hopping was a bit annoying, because all the areas have separate wifi logins, but I could manage
I loved the check-in process, they told me nicely everything about the hostel. There's a huge kitchen with anything you possibly need for cooking. 2 huge fridges and plenty of space to store your food if youd like to. The lockers are huge and you get a key to them as well. I would definitely comeback here anytime!

AustraliaShower plumbing was a little smelly. Bed and room was small but that’s pretty standard for Tokyo. Not enough pillows. Area had very limited food options for families in the evenings.
Staff were incredibly kind. The communal room was spacious and had fantastic facilities. The cafe was open quite late which was really handy when we arrived the first evening.

New ZealandWe were asked to pay extra for our 5 year old's breakfast, even though he was included on the hotel booking.
The large open plan room was great for our family, and beds were cosy. The projector and screen made our kid very happy! The breakfast was delicious and healthy.

United StatesCheckin was a little chaotic, but I also arrived in the middle of a community market (which looked like a lot of fun! I just didn't participate because I was exhausted). Honestly, there wasn't anything that I actually disliked -- it really was a great stay.
The room was clean and quiet, with an excellent pillow and fast internet. Shared facilities were clean and high quality. Breakfast was delicious and very reasonably priced! Also, the staff were very kind and helpful.

United StatesThe AC unit was kind’ve noisy/rattling. Room was stuffy when AC was off. Wished there was Netflix on TV - not a huge deal though.
I loved the neighborhood and proximity to the beautiful park. Super comfy bed. Staff was so so kind! Good vibes all around. Room was huge for Tokyo standards.

NorwayWe had a great stay here! The standard is good and staff are super-friendly and helpful. There is also a lounge/kitchen-area, in addition to the bar/cafe. The hotel is situated in a calm neighborhood, with a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station. We ended up with the theater-room for our second stay, which was great! Spacious, with an enourmous bed and projector. We would absolutely stay here again.

Japanunfortunately, the number of glass might be limited so if you are lucky you can use the glass in the kitchen, but be sure to quickly wash and place it back afterwards. it would be great if the hotel provided paper cups tho.
there's a pool table there which is very fun to use. there are also a lot of board games and books. the cafe is open in the morning and the breakfast menu is quite nice. overall fun experience!

CanadaLocation's more on a quiet side. Its in the quiet neighbourhood northwest of Ueno, but only 20 to 30 minutes away from the big popular places such as Akihabara or Ikebukuro. Nothing to really dislike, the quiet neighbourhood is great for relaxation.
Bunk beds were roomy. Several floors of shower/washrooms. So if one needed cleaning you could find a cleaner one. The lounge area was great addition, with the large TV. Breakfast was ok, I honestly found going to one of the local shops a bit more of a bargain. Locker storage was ample in your room. Staff was attentive and allowed me to go back into my room and search for a lost possession.

NorwayWe really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Graphy Nezu! The location is very convenient, with walking distances to both Nezu and Ueno station, which easily takes you to most places around in Tokyo. It is close to the Ueno park, harboring cherry trees, the Zoo, Tokyo National Museum and the Natural History Museum, among others. The rooms are quite small, but after staying at other hotels in Japan during our stay, this seems to be quite common and the one at Graphy Nezu was larger compared to the other places we lived. We requested gluten free options for breakfast in advance. Although not included on the menu, they were able to prepare gluten free pancakes some of the days (but not all, so be prepared to buy gluten free options and have in your room). The non-gluten free breakfast alternatives are also very tasty! Otherwise, there is a nice 'lounge' area with free pool table and shared kitchen. In the breakfast area they also have a happy hour with free drinks one hour every day (for those who drink gluten-infested beer). Wi-Fi works excellent! The personnel is also extremely helpful and welcoming. Highly recommended!
