Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanCold! And the reception asked me to pay 1000 yen, because I checked out 50 mins later. Weird. The previous hotel was okay. They did not stress upon that while checking in.

RwandaThe room was extremely small for a 3 night stay. Although it’s listed as a double it’s really better suited for 1 person. We had 2 people with 2 suitcases and we were constantly tripping over our things. There is space to add a small closet yet there’s nothing for clothes, no wardrobe either, which was really inconvenient. The bathroom was also really tiny. The desk could be replaced with an area to hang clothes. Therefore, if you plan to stay here choose the biggest room possible!
The best aspect of this property is its location. It’s nestled in a really quiet neighborhood with cute cafes, restaurants and close to Ueno park with a great museum. We also really enjoyed the breakfast here and dinner options, the food was very good. The kitchen they have in the back is convenient for wanting to cook your own meals.

United KingdomThe area is very quiet, not much going on around there except housing. Not a convenient location to get to and from the airport. Would not recommend this area if you want to be amongst the action in Tokyo.
This is a hostel more than a hotel, its a nice hostel but i didnt realise that when booking it given the price so we moved elsewhere after checking in.

GermanyIt’s probably the most misleading „hotel“ I’ve ever seen. Advertised as a hotel, with dozens of pictures with singles rooms, it looks quite nice. Turns out to be a hostel with shared bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets, etc. While that may not be of an issue for travelers who like to stay in hostels, I was not expecting it. So, if you’re reading carefully, you will quickly see that this is NOT a hotel. The bathrooms, toilets and laundry rooms were not clean with hair all over the place and dust that was not removed in years (washing machine). For the price it’s definitely not worth it, as I got a single room at APA with a view on the Skytree for a cheaper price in the end. Also it’s very far from Ueno station and NEZU station is also around 10 minutes away. So not convenient at all.
The staff was nice.

FranceThis hotel is dirty and nothing is done to improve that. They don't use any vacuum cleaner, rooms are full of dust, and don't dare to look at the air filters. Common areas, like the kitchen, are disgusting. Nobody sweeps the tables after breakfast. It looks like the cleaning staff is awfully paid and can't properly work, and the hotel staff does not give any attention. EDIT : the hotel keeps enswering it will improve the cleaning process but it seems to be all the same since a long time !
Nezu is a wonderful neighborhood.

Hong KongI stayed for 3 nights during winter. A 6 person dormitory room. 1. Heater is on, but not warm. Staffs switch a bed near the heater for me, so i didn’t rate low score 2. I searched, only 1 hairdryer on 4th floor… 3. The female shower room on 3rd floor, i have to go 4th floor to dry hair. Which is a bit cold when u go to other floor, cuz my hair is still wet 4. No curtain for the upper bunk bed. 5. Sometimes wifi will be disconnected, but still can connect to other floor wifi
Towels are provided everyday. The washing and dry machine, 2 in 1 is free. It takes 2.5 hrs. You can buy laundry powder at front desk, costs 100yen Friendly staffs, try to answer my questions

SingaporeThe floor was really dusty under the bed with dust bunnies everywhere. The sheets were very thin and the pillows provided were very hard and flat, housekeeping was also subpar as they do not remove old towels and they would give an inconsistent number of new towels. They also did not refill the bath soap even when it was empty and we had to ask for it. The place also did not offer luggage delivery services and we had to drag our luggages to the nearby convenience store to deliver them to the next destination.
Location was ok, walkable to both Nezu and Ueno station.
