This hotel is a scam. And don’t reflect the cool pictures shown on the website. We were welcomed by the RUDEST old man (instead of the smiley receptionist shown on the picture) - the worst customer service we had in the entire Japan. Absolutely awful- I would really review the staff you leave in the front office to give a first impression, he has no clue how to treat a customer and clearly racist towards foreigners who pay his salary. facilities are outdated. Bed is not comfortable - amenities are very limited compare to any other hotel we have been of the same price range. Avoid.

The room layout was tight and stuffy. In my 6 bed bunk, the side of my head was parallel to the door opening which was noisy. My suitcase only opened halfway because it touched the wall. If you have anything other than a carry on bag it will may not fit underneath the bunk bed. There is no area to repack your suitcase, only to store if it is too large in the main lobby.

Ueno station is directly across the street and about 5-7 minutes walking to the subway lines. Each floor was clean. The bunk bed had it's own small locker to store valuables with 1 plug, 1 regular USB female outlet, and a light.

It’s a great hostel in the center of Ueno. The room is clean and super quiet. The hostel is close to the subway station, and close by there are plenty of shopping areas and restaurants. Highly recommended to families who are looking for reasonable accommodation while staying in Tokyo.

We booked this for one night as transit, location is perfectly located <5 mins walk to nearest train station Ueno (entrance). What impressed me was how clean it was, especially the bathroom. I was staying in a family room, 2 adults and 3 kids, the room is small but good enough for a stop over spot.

For some reason sometimes the AC would be set so cold that it was freezing until we figure out how to set it. It's not your tipical hostel, they have private rooms and I think it was also used for tour groups so it wasn't too social. While great for transfers the area around Ueno doesn't have a great nightlife.

I stayed 7 days and I was lucky to get the bunk bed in the corner with no top bunk so it was like having a private room with room to spare. Breakfast was great too with pastries, bread, sausages, fruit salad. Being close to Ueno meant easy access to the trains to do daytrips, going to Disney without too many changes.

My room smelled like very old, stagnant air and kind of like body odor, until maintenance changed the air filters, and then it smelled like nothing (thankfully). I bought a very cheap air freshener and put it in the corner and it made a lot of difference. There should be one in every room to avoid people having a stinky room.

I happened to get a bunk in a dorm that was actually more like a small room. The mattress was on the floor and there was a decent amount of floor space next to it, and I could stand up and walk around. The alternative would have been to pay more for a private room or get a standard bunk that you can barely even sit up in comfortably. There was also a small safe (which the bunk beds didn't have). I guess I got lucky. The bathrooms are all well maintained, clean, and have plenty of soaps/shampoo/conditioner. The lounge/kitchen area was nice, too. It's a great location right near Ueno Station and plenty of restaurants, conbinis, ATMs, vending machines, and shops nearby. If you get hungry/thirsty at any hour, you'll find something within a couple minutes of walking. All of the staff at the front desk I spoke to all spoke English and were very helpful.

The bed could be more comfortable, it was old and the center has lost its form. Was still comfortable though. Just beware there are no lockers (only a mini locker for passport and phone) and towels provided for a small fee. It wasn’t a problem for me since I didn’t take my laptop.

I stayed for 10 days, solo travelling. I got a corner bed in the dorm room which was like having a sub-room. I had enough room to even put my luggage. The bathrooms were well equipped. The location is just next to Ueno station, made it easy to reach anywhere.

Didn’t expect my lower bunk bed to be a bit cramped since the opening is on the smaller side unlike other beds.

Accessible to Ueno Station and Keisei Ueno Station. Just right across Ueno Park. All staffs were nice and accommodating. Check in and out process was smooth.
