How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We were only given one key, which caused problems when we wanted to split up to do different things. The fold out bed was very uncomfortable, I'm not sure if I was using it wrongly but there were no instructions.
The location was great, close to the Keihan line and main Kyoto station. The room was not massive, but big enough for the 3 of us and having a washing machine, fridge and microwave was useful. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

I wish the washing machine in the room was actually a combo washer dryer unit. It isn’t practical to wash clothes without a dryer.
Bed was comfortable and large enough for a tall person. Staff were kind, friendly and helpful.

I knew beforehand that it was going to be small to accommodate three people, but after extending the sofa bed, there were literally no space to walk around the room. Strange stains on the sheet.

Great position 5 min walk from local train station (KH), and 20 min nice walk to Gion. Nice and clean rooms, spacious bathroom. Staff speaks english, so huge plus!

The washing machine did not have a dryer setting. There was a drying rack for laundry but, due to the summer humidity, it took days for things to dry.
It had everything we needed for our 4 day stay: fully equipped kitchenette, good pillows, spacious for Japan, AC, more AC, and helpful staff.

Only one key per apartment. Some chairs and/or a table on the balcony would be super nice.

Helpful and friendly staff. Great location and plenty of excellent attractions and restaurants close by. The list of attractions and restaurants at reception was very helpful. Good room size too.

This place was beautiful!!! The rooms were fantastic and nicely spacious, they left lots of little free toiletries for use (razor, toothbrush, q-tips), the hotel was nicely located near kyoto station and other local metro stations, the staff were also sof friendly and let us check in early which was so great!! Definitely stay here!!

Nothing! Only a small detail: in the room there is no dryer for clothes which is okay. But there is only one drying rack for the whole hotel and it is always used by someone else.
It is very new and clean hotel. Kitchen utilities were simple but enough. The bed was comfortable. The curtains are thick enough to black out the room (it is usually not the case in other hotels in Japan). The staff is helpful and they speak well English. When they are not on the desk, you can reach them via phone.

Nothing. For us it was perfect. Location is more remote meaning you have to walk some for restaurants or a convient store.but not a problem for us.
Great facilities including a washing machine and small kitchen. Perfect for a long stay type of vacation. Larger than average so plenty of space for suitcases etc. Location is in a more quiet area, meaning less restaurants and shops (can be seen as positive or negative). Really great value and stay overall!

Very noce rooms, fully equipped with even a small kitchen and washing machine/drier. The staff was very kind and helpful. Location is particularly convenient to visit the Inari shrine, for which an early wake up is recommended.

Baggage storage overnight is not possible, as the reception has not 24/7 working hours.
The hotel is placed near to a subway station to Gion and Inari. One can walk to Gion as well. We had a room with a small kitchen and a washing machine. Very helpful.

It was great to have a washing machine, but it would be even better if the hotel provided a dryer or drying rack. It would also be great if there was a small table for 2 to eat at, especially since there are cooking facilities in the room.
The hotel was a great base to explore Kyoto, close to the Keihan train line and nice cafes and bars within a short walk. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed for our short stay in Kyoto.

If there was a little more space in the room so we could open our bags it would have helped. However we were 3 in a room so one bed likely took up the available space.
We loved the location and the friendliness of the staff. The lady from China (I unfortunately forgot her name) was AMAZING in making us feel welcomed. Would definitely recommend.

Great location right by the station with good access to key sights in Kyoto, very good staff who were approachable and provided good recommendations. Extended stays are defiantly possible since the rooms come with a small kitchenette, fridge and wash in machine so if travellers are looking to spend a week or two would also definitely recommend

Bed was a little bit stiff but it’s okay. Everything else was perfect.
They let me have an early check in which was so lovely. Great location, 30 minute walk to Nishiki market and Nanenzaka/Sanenzaka street. By the river too. Great room with many amenities!

The rooms are quite small, but I think to be expected.
Comfortable, affordable and quiet neighbourhood, one of the ladies on the front desk was not very friendly on the first day, but on our last day we had lovely staff on the desk who kindly stored our luggage while we went out for a lunch before leaving. Great location too!

A little bit of noise from other rooms and the street, but it was not really a problem to us.
This hotel was excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly. We especially liked having a fridge, microwave and washing machine in our room.
