Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe most important part to note of this stay is Kahori! She’s such a wonderful, knowledgeable and kind host who is happy to help with any needs or even just a chat, she made our stay in Kyoto even more special! In regard to the Inn itself, it is very clean with all the facilities you could need, and they were never crowded which was a bonus! The rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable, and the Inn is a short walk from Kyoto station which is a nice location to see the city from. Thank you for an amazing stay Kahori!

SwedenIt was a shame that the dryer was out of service, since although we could hang our washing on the cute roof terrace, the cold weather and since we only had one night meant that it didn't have time to dry. But hopefully the dryer will be repaired soon.
The host was so lovely and curious about her guests and willing to help wherever she could, and the kitchen area is great for the option of self-catering a bit. The location is also great and close to public transport options.

The lady at the front desk was very kind and welcoming. She was able to speak English well and had a friendly and funny demeanor. I could store the luggage at the accommodation and additional requests regarding luggage were accommodated. The house is spaceious (and clean) and gives off an authentic Japanese vibe, which was nice.

A fantastic stay in an authentic Kyoto house. The house is very nice, and the interior feels like an experience into how japanese houses look like from the inside. The owner is incredibly sweet and will do anything to make you feel like home. The location of the inn is walking distance from the train station, and placed very close to a pretty temple, as well as the amazing small streets of Kyoto.

IndiaThe walls were quite thin so could know if someone was in the other rooms. but this is a japanese style home so it is expected.

The place was a cultural & japanese style home with tatami floors, the place gave a cozy vibe. bathrooms were neat and clean. the kitchen could be used so the place was comfortable and enjoyable. The location was a 10mins walk from kyoto station which was a +.

ChinaI have a heavy suitcase so it’s a little bit hard to carry it through the stairs. A little bit wood smell in the room.
It’s traditional Japanese style building. Bathrooms are shared by all customers but it’s not crowded. It’s very clean and tidy and beautiful. Staff are really nice.

SingaporeIt was a little far from Kyoto Station even though it was still easy to find. Toilet and showering facilities are outside of the room and felt really cold during winter
It was a comfortable room with warm clean bedding. You could use the kitchen facilities. The owner was very nice too.

GermanyThis place is a small inn that used to be the owner’s family home. My stay felt like I was invited into the home of a family member I had never met. The owner, Kaori-san, is a warm and welcoming lady. She greeted me with open arms and explained the guesthouse and its rules in detail. It’s an old Japanese house, so it’s very important for guests to be considerate of each other—keeping voices low and avoiding stomping when walking. I’ve stayed in many ryokan, but the futons were always thin (even in the most expensive ones). Here, however, the futons are thick and incredibly comfortable. The guesthouse has shared bathrooms and baths on the first floor, but they are very clean. The location is central, with many amazing cafes and wine bars nearby. Kyoto Station and other major stations are easily accessible on foot.
