Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe walk from the train station was a bit confusing and we would have really appreciated a hotel shuttle option. It was difficult to communicate with the front desk staff, but that was expected as they let us know that they had just one English Speaker on staff.
Breakfast and Dinner were both amazing meals at the hotel. As a foreign family of 4, we were especially wowed by the large assortment of Japanese foods to try. While we some of the few foreign tourists, we always felt welcome by staff and other guests. The onsite onsens were small but clean and well maintained. We enjoyed wearing our hotel-provided yukatas around the hotel.

SingaporeFound the foam mattress not comfortable, preferred the traditional mattress. Very basic onsen facility and amenities.
Good location, as I prefer to be a bit distance from the center. Love the different spring water onsen and dinner and breakfast buffet spread.

AustraliaFutons were a little bit thin compared to some other, cheaper hotels.
Amazing service, good food and so close to the Yubatake. Don’t consider other facilities, try here first. The onsens were lovely, with networks to nearby hotels’ onsens included in the rooms.

GermanyI didn't go to the sister hotel but the in-house Onsen is tiny. No shuttle bus between hotel and bus station, particularly when the floor is slippy, it was kinda struggling and dangerous with luggages. (The reception could call taxi for us, but it seemed no taxi waited to come or we had to wait for 30 mins)
The room is clean and comfy. Dinner and breakfast were extraordinary, with various options, both western and Japanese.

GermanyI wish there were a bit more non-japanese options for breakfast but it was ok. The private bath is a bit expensive and has not much flair. But its big enough for a family.
We spent 2 nights there and liked it. Room are big enough with own bathroom, beds are comfy. Location is good, the short way to town is convenient. Staff is very friendly and helpful, many speak english. The baths were not crowded and are ok. Breakfast and Dinner was Buffet style and you get 90 minutes to eat. But no one controlls if you come to your designated time or stay longer.

AustraliaNo shuttle from the station, so you have to either pay for a taxi or walk, which is not the worst as it is not terribly far, but can be a little difficult with luggage. If you are not used to sleeping on Futon bedding, it can be a little uncomfortable, but that is a problem for me, not for the hotel itself.
The location is excellent, there is a little hidden entry which allows you easy access to the centre of town. There are multiple Onsen Options available to guests. The restaurant is Buffet style, which means that for someone like me, who doesn't like fish, I could eat things I did like with no issues at all, and not having to bother the staff with trying to change my meal options to accommodate. Plus the food was all delicious. The staff were all very lovely, and very friendly, they spoke basic English, but did so very well.

United StatesWhile they warn you that the floors in the public baths are slippery, they could have at least put some sort of rubber mat down on the inside entry of the bath. I fell and hit my arm pretty good leading to swelling and bruises later. Also, the elevator doors closed way too quickly without any sort of protective measure. Three of us got into the elevator with one pulling her suitcase in when the doors closed on her. She had to tug to get the suitcase in as doors did not reopen when it hit her bag. The doors closes in matter of seconds.
The location was good with the shortcut to the Yubatake. The food selections at the dinner and breakfast buffets were plentiful and a wide variety of foods. Nice selection of yukatas in the lobby to choose from as well as bath amenities.

United StatesThe room was warm and there was no active climate control that we're so used to in Japan. When we opened the windows and either had food smells from the kitchen below us or very strong sulfur smell during the night.
Breakfast and Dinner Buffets were excellent, some of the best we've seen in Japan. The Yaki Manju soft serve ice cream is not to be missed. Having the option of 3 different baths was very nice, the lowest one was the best. The room was very basic and probably the most sterile Japanese style room we've seen, but the futons were comfortable. The access to the main part of town was very nice either through the hotel passage or from the street.

Singapore- room design makes it difficult to place luggages for a family of 4 - toilet is very small - the link way to the Annex building is leaking at some area, and we were exposed to some rain. The floor of the link way is very rough and uneven, hence pushing our luggages was challenging.
- short cut to main street - buffet dinner and breakfast are delicious

SingaporeThere are mosquitoes. The futons are a bit too thin for heavier people. The lifts are very small and slow, Moving your luggage out during check in and out will need patience.
There are 3 onsens and we can use the onsens of 2 sister hotels. Yubatake is just behind the hotel. Food spread is wide and quality is good. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The futon are already spread out when we check in. We took the National route 292 to the hotel and the view is spectacular in autumn.

AustraliaI drove and only booked hotels with parking. I was disappointed to find out I couldn't park infront of hotel but the parking space is an easy minute walk
Checkin/out was easy. Brekkie and dinner was included and great variety. Although tatted, they offered stickers to cover which allowed me to use the onsen. They have four in the building indoor and outdoor as well as a bus service to 2 other onsens. Yubatake is a 3 minute walk
