United StatesFor the most part everything felt clean except the bathtub. It needed a good scrub or perhaps it’s stained. The grounds are beautiful but the hotel does need some upkeep. The neighboring area is a bit run down and there aren’t many cafes/ restaurants but there was one really delicious brand new restaurant 700ft away which was perfect . The location is a bit far from everything but you are right next to a bus stop.
I had an excellent view of the Japan Sea. My room was big and spacious and felt unique with traditional tatami and wooden floors. The private onsen with sauna and dry room was wonderful! I regret not using it both nights. The staff was helpful and friendly. I enjoyed their self serve coffee/beverage station with tables overlooking their beautiful Japanese garden on the terrace. They also offer cute little treats to eat with your drink which I thought was so lovely.

AustraliaWe were there for cherry blossom season and were driving from Aomori to Nagano, so it was a nice 1/2way point. The restaurant was closed till high season and there is no other place open at all. Just really quiet there However there was a Lawson store about 2klms away We were able to purchase a couple of dishes there, which they were able to heat in a micro as well as buy some nice red wine So all was good However, there is no table in the room to dine I think it would be good for them to place a rable and chairs in the room for the off season The room is certainly big enough
We loved our stay here and can't wait to get back EVERYTHING was perfect Really romantic hotel, with nice views My wife enjoyed the thermal pool

South KoreaEnglish translation of the site was a bit confusing to understand but the staff at the site was friendly to explain the differences. Considering all closes around the hotel after 9pm, it would be nice to have the coffee/drink stand open after 9pm as well. View from the room was a bit different from what was advertised on the homepage.
Friendly staff, comfy bed, nice amenities, designated parking spot, coffee provided on lobby floor for limited hours. Easy access to the onsen. Really enjoyed the breakfast - worth the price. Nicely designed hotel and recommended to those looking for a place to stay in Tsuruoka.
