Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongThe Quadruple room should be good for two adults with two kids, but was a tight squeeze for 4 adults.
Very good central location! But need to access via a couple flights of stairs from the bus station, so don’t pack too much stuff!

SingaporeIt does not have any car park lot for hotel guests so it is inconvenient.
They provided yukata too. They have a bathtub for us which was great. Unfortunately we only stay 1 night so we hardly have time to enjoy the bathtub. I was great to have 2x single bed, proper bed.

SingaporeThe beds were not so comfortable and the heating was not adequate.
It is located in on top of a quiet hill which provides much serenity. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The nearby public bath was very easy to get to and we had a good onsen experience there. We left a couple of bags behind and the staff helped us to mail the parcel to our next hotel. They were responsive throughout the process of arranging the delivery.

United StatesAlthough the location is not far from the train/bus stations, there are lots of stairs to the to the hotel unless you know the way to navigate around the place. We wish we had known earlier. on the day we arrived, we carried our luggage through all those stairs was no joke, pretty rough. The sink is quite small and didn't have hot water. It was very cold to wash hands and the water splash everywhere. We had to sacrifice one of the towels to dry our hands.
The location is very interesting. It's located right in the middle of the town, so we could get to the main tourist street in a minute. It also took us only 2 minutes to walk to the Gin onsen. The room is spacious. At least we have room to open 2 carry-on luggages without any problem. The room we stayed in included a private bathtub, which is nice for us on the night we arrived that both public bathes are closed. Although the water was just regular hot water. The shower is nice, has good water pressure, and has good quality shampoo conditioner. We arrived late, and the host waited for us to check in. Check-in and check-out process is easy and quick. You can also ask for more towels to go to the public bath.

Singapore1. Initial locating the hotel can be challenging as it up small street slope behind shops. Would help to install small directional signboards along main street to point the direction / position.. or/and at least pre-alert customer the route / landmark upon booking. 2. Room is very cold in end Feb when I visited. Provision of room heater inside the room will help comfort. The AC is not sufficient or not effective in warming . 3. Wifi is not good in my room. Informed the reception but it could not be helped. 4. No private onsen in this hotel. Would be great foreign women visitor / family guest who wants or insist.
Close proximity to Arima Onsen Station , shopping & dinning areas and spa

JapanExcellent location to use the public onsens and wander around the town. We preferred this type set-up than a half board at one of the hotels with a private onsen. Lovely helpful lady on the hotel reception advised us which onsens were open when - times on the internet in English were incorrect. Also gave us free vouchers each day to use an onsen. We saw others had commented it was hard to find but we found it just fine - 10 mins from station - using google maps.

United StatesThe following are nitpicks: I don't disagree with some reviews that the breakfast was certainly adjusted to Chinese tourists palates instead of a true Japanese breakfast (we were served Jyuk/Congee instead of rice, for example). However the breakfast was incredibly filling and delicious. It's also a bit of a hike to get to so be prepared for that.
The entire stay was wonderful and quite affordable for a ryokan that includes two meals. There was a small misunderstanding with dinner so everyone ended up with vegetarian meals but it was so delicious. The little garden out front was well maintained and beautiful. We were right next to a small temple where you can see the steam coming off of the spring water rising. Our rooms were actually really big and we each had private baths but didn't use them. We were each provided with a ticket with the booking for one of the two bath houses in town.
