This is an absolutely beautiful hostel with very thoughtful designs and amenities. A great place to relax. The room was very comfortable and the food was very delicious.

Probably the most relaxing stay we've had anywhere in Japan. This renovated 200 year old Japanese farmhouse is stunning. The staff and owners were wonderful and the location was beautiful. We hope we will be able to return and spend more time there on our next trip.

We would have liked to stay longer, we were only here for one night. Right on the Nakasendo trail between Nagiso and Nojiri. Breathtaking views, such a peaceful feel, very helpful staff, good food and sake tasting.

I had an amazing stay at Hostel Yuian! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The shared spaces were clean and cozy, with a calm vibe that made it easy to relax or meet other travelers. My room was spotless, comfortable, and had thoughtful touches like charging ports and reading lights. Highly recommended for solo travelers and backpackers looking for a peaceful yet social place to stay!

Hostel Yui-an was such a lovely stay with the most hospitable hosts ❤️ we loved the story behind each of the interior pieces, it’s such a beautiful spot located in the middle of the Nakasendo hiking trail, so the perfect spot to crash in between days of hiking! We loved it — thanks so much!

The only thing is that the heater turned off after 3 hours which meant we were quite cold at night. Everything else was amazing, that is the only thing.

We wished we had stayed for an extra day.

A beautiful mountain lodge with a delightful host family, perfect for hikers or those seeking a quiet retreat. I don't think it should be called a 'hostel' as that implies too bland an experience. Instead, we were treated to a lovingly restored traditional farmhouse, tastefully decorated, a fire crackling in the hearth, charming room, local sake, a delicious dinner and welcoming hosts. We were grateful for their excellent English. Cannot recommend enough.

The place is beautiful. We visited in winter, and even though it had snowed and the road was a bit challenging, the scenery was absolutely spectacular. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious. We truly felt at home.

Gorgeous ryokan in nature that was restored and personalized by the owner. He constantly works and upgrades the place and really makes it unique. The staff is amazing! We had a great time chatting with them after dinner. Get the curry dinner - it’s one of the best! The nature around the place is beautiful.

Loved this beautifully renovated house, the atmosphere and the lovely family running it. We had a wonderful stay, the hot bath in the wooden bathtub after a long day of hiking was really comforting. The dinner was delicious. We wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks to both of you.

Hostel Yui-an was the most special accommodation in our entire trip to the Japanese Alps. The house is simply amazing, the surroundings are peaceful and the girls who run the place are nice, friendly, helpful and speak excellent English. I would totally recommend it!
