Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanWe had some trouble finding one of the bed cause the paper fell off. When we contacted the staff, no one reply. We had to figure out ourselves if they forgot one bed or if we couldn't find ours.

HungaryI can't blame anyone but myself as I stayed in this place one night before. I didn't have a good sleep then but thought maybe I was unlucky with the guests and let's give it another try. So I booked 3 nights and didn't have a proper sleep for 3 nights. It's not only that the guests (or at least some of them) don't care, it is difficult to close the door quietly. It has a hydraulic door closer which slams the door unless you are careful to close it carefully yourself. And on the last night I realised that the staff working at the hostel is one of those who likes to slam the door at around 1-2 AM. I would remove that hydraulic door closer and put a big sign on the door that close it quietly. But I don't think it will happen, so if you want a quiet night, think about booking somewhere else.

HungaryRates tend to go up on weekends in popular Japanese cities/locations, so there is nothing to complain about here, this is normal. So keep it in mind when you're booking accommodation in Fukuoka. In this case, the weekend rate is about three times more than the weekday rate; I wanted to stay longer but when I realised this, I booked accommodation in Nagasaki. The proper hotel room in a nice hotel was cheaper than a dormitory bed would have been in Fukuoka. Another thing to keep in mind is the check-in time. I've never seen a place, in Japan or elswhere, where it was at 7 PM. There is no logical reason for this, 9 hours are not needed to prepare beds after the 10 AM check-outs. The only reason I can think of is that the staff running the place likes to stay up till late and keep things to the last minute. Anyway, make plans accordingly. Also, the map on the Booking.com website is not correct. I didn't find the hostel first, but then I located the building pictured on the site. I thought the hostel must be in that block, so I again wasted time trying to find it. The hostel is actually across the road from that building. It would be useful to mention this on the Booking.com website.

The area was very accessible as it was near the lake and the ruins. You can walk or take the bus to most of the landmarks and shopping places.

JapanBeds face each other, and there was a lack of cleanliness in the whole building overall, under the mattress, sheets, floors and bathrooms. The shared spaces can get quite loud, even later at night.
Convenient location accessible by bus from Hakata. It is a good place to meet travellers, there is a nice bar just down the building.

New ZealandVery chaos place, I think the owner doesn't care and think his property as own rules rather than h Having a general understanding how the business work. 7 pm check in was a joke, and dirty. Foreigners just keep making noise without following rules.
It's ok, probably the cheapest place even thought they increased the price a lot during peak season. The owner let check in a bit early, at least.

AustraliaThe common room smell like feet and I didn't like to spend much time there. Both windows in the dorm room - although it was nice to have fresh air- had almost non-existent, broken fly screens that can let insects in at night if not closed. However, I couldn't get the windows to close completely. If you're not comfortable climbing a lot of stairs to the shower room after a long day, this place is not for you. A plus is that you get some exercise. Ladies if you speak Japanese, feel free to chat with the staff member as he is shy. However, I was made to feel very uncomfortable. Please keep to your personal boundaries.
There was ample space to hang clothes up, and I appreciated this in contrast to other hostels. I liked that there were lockers available to use before check-in time as this saved me from sight-seeing while carrying my laptop. I was grateful for towels being provided too.

JapanThe manager guy was creepy. He asked me to go up the stairs in front of him. I’m pretty sure it was so he could check me out from behind. Then he went into the girls dorm at midnight to show me to my bed. He didn’t knock or anything. he could’ve just told me the room number without invading in their privacy.

JapanThe place is not very clean at all. It seems most guests stay for only one night and leave the public areas a mess. I suppose the hotel is okay for the low price but I've been to much better hostels in Japan for the about same price. The staff are a little awkward and not good at creating a welcoming environment. The male staff walk into the female dorm around midday without warning. It's a place you wouldn't want to hang out at unless you're lucky and there are other sociable guests. My friend was kept up all night by loud snoring from other guests. The whole place has a bit of an off smell, and I advise you to not look too closely at the air conditioner as it it covered in a thick layer of dust/mold.
The beds were very comfortable.
