Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. United StatesThe breakfast wasn’t great so I’m glad we didn’t opt for that included in our room price. After paying one morning (equivalent to $10 USD) and deciding we didn’t like it, we opted for a bakery around the corner for the following days.
Property was clean and staff super friendly and helpful. They don’t do full service room cleaning every day, but do leave you fresh towels and garbage bags. You can leave your dirty towels and garbage outside your room in the bag provided in the morning and they will pick up. I know for some this might be a deal breaker, but it didn’t matter to us especially at the reasonable price we paid. Room was very nice and the location was great; walk to Gion, easy subway/bus access to the hotel to visit other points of interest.

This is an excellent hotel in an amazing location with great staff. Our room was well presented, spacious, clean, and met all of our needs. Price is very reasonable too.

United StatesIf I were to nitpick it's that room was a bit cramped for two people and their luggages.
Excellent location, also great amenities, they had everything from cleansing oil to hair milk and face mask. I liked that this hotel is in a prime location and walkable to all important Kyoto attractions such as Pontocho (less than 5 min walk), and Higashiyama (15 min walk). The train station is around 8 min (by walk). We found out that a tea ceremony we had booked musch before, ended up being only 5 minutes away. Given that Kyoto is less subway connected than Osaka and Tokyo, the location makes this a great stay. The room style had a quaint and classic architectural feel you see in pictures.

Great location with easy walk to the modern shopping but also across the river to some of the ancient sites. Very convenient to several bus stops and metro which between them made accessing further away sites very easy. Hotel was very clean and everything was in 100% top condition. Staff were very friendly, was able to get early check in as our room was ready. Very quiet, no traffic or external noise even though the hotel is in a busy area. Bed was very, very comfortable. Nice little lounge area with a free coffee machine, chilled water and ice.
