Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandHeating was too hot for our comfort which made it difficult to sleep. Some guests were quite noisy so we had to use ear plugs. I felt the price to be quite high for a hostel experience. We opted for the meal on arrival which was also quite expensive and not really worth the price we paid.
Very cute and well thought out, all facilities were clean and well maintained. Good location if doing the bike trail over two days

United StatesThey didn't offer a way for visitors to safely dry sports laundry (Driers ruin cycling clothes). Would like a shuttle to the nearby onsen.
Great service offered to travelers. Great food offered in a region without many options

CanadaEven if it's modern and super clean, it stills feels like you're sleeping in a giant dorm. You'll hear people in the pods next to you (snoring, comings and goings, curtains opening etc) I'm handy with technology, but I grew tired of having to unlock the dorm door by scanning a QR code and entering a code every time.
Really nice staff. The chef (and owner?) went above and beyond and arranged a massage for my mother who suffered from back pain. Super nice of him. Super clean and comfortable Good value dinner (5 small course for ~ ¥2000) Steps from the beach, Very close to the sento/pool and the bridge Tips: the sento is simple but feels amazing after a day on the bike. Lovely little bakery in the center of town.

United StatesLimited free space to hang out as there are windows of time for free space in the cafe. It was empty when we were there but I understand the need to be consistent.
Location was convenient for riding the Shimanami Kaido. It was very comfortable and clean to stay in the large capsule rooms. Futon style beds were cozy. Provided pajamas and bedding.

MexicoEverything was incredibly clean and new, very spacious, you get to borrow pijamas and towels for free, as well as other amenities like ear plugs, razors, etc. The restaurant side of the hostel was also shockingly good. I was very pleasantly surprised by this place.

United KingdomExcellent location and a good set-up for cyclists. The single bunk I stayed at in was spacious (at 5 foot 2 I could stand up with some clearance) and comfortable - although like most Japanese hostels/hotels the mattress was very firm. I appreciate that, despite the hostel being fairly empty, they made an effort to spread guests over the dorm space which made for a quieter stay. I pre booked the multi course meal which was delicious, very filling and worth the money. Every time I felt like we might be done, another course would appear. There is a public onsen nearby which is worth a visit after a day’s cycling and a Konbini across the road if you need to pick up snacks.

SingaporeThings are never really quiet be it a bunk bed or a single room cause the entire sleeping area is a huge partitioned shared space. People dragging their slippers, whispers, coughs, etc are going to be heard rather easily. However, since we all can hear one another, I observed other guests to be as conscious as possible so the disturbances are really kept to a minimum. Also, the hotel hand out ear plugs for free.
Good facilities incl. a dedicated space for people to service their bikes if necessary. Shower rooms and toilets are kept clean and the "rooms" are tidy and well maintained. The dinner option was very good if you do not have any dinner plans or else the famimart across the street will have cheaper and varied options. If you cycle into the town on the west side, there are also restaurants specialising in seafood from the regional waters.

United StatesHeaters ran throughout the night in the whole place made the place kinda hot to sleep in. The dinner set that you can reserve for 3500 yen was so-so in my opinion. In hindsight, I think I would've preferred just getting a single dish.
Great stop in around the half-way point of the recommended route of Shimanami Kaido cycle trail. Very clean, well-put together hostel. Also close to a community center that you can go to for onsen to relax. Also across the street from a FamilyMart for meals/snacks/drinks.

CanadaIt’s close to the halfway mark of the Shimanami Kaido (and a short walk away from an onsen!). The facilities are clean and spacious. The in-house dinner was also fantastic; there were several options available for diverse diets and the meal I had was absolutely delicious. This place made me feel well-rested and ready for another day of cycling! Highly recommend!

United StatesCool concept for lodging executed well. Very clean rooms and facilities. I loved how I could hang my bike in my room. Also great location. Right off the Shimanami Kaido and almost perfectly at the midpoint between Onomichi and Imabari. It's close to the Shimanami Dome (for a relaxing onsen), a 24/7 convenience store, and 雅楽, which had the best food I had on my trip at a good price. Also it's not too far from Sakari, where you can take a ferry to Okunoshima! One caveat for my trip is due to Typhoon Shanshan, I was the only guest staying in the hostel at the time. I felt bad for the staff for being the reason they couldn't have the day off, but the staff was still very gracious and accommodating.

PolandIt was not clear that the rooms don’t have normal door, just a curtain with a key lock. It was not a huge problem, but I think it should be more transparent in the photos or description of the room.

United KingdomNothing really!
What can I say - after a day of cycling in 35+ degree heat, this was what I needed. Nothing fancy about the accommodation, but it was simple done well. Decided to upgrade to a private space on realising there wasn't many peopl staying and the price wasn't much different. The meal in the evening was also fantastic, and I would recommend, as there isn't much else apart from a Family Mart in the area. Staff were also very pleasant and assisted where they could.
