How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Simple but clean and well maintained. Location is great, a bit of a walk to the station but totally ok. Small cute restaurants around. Staff is super friendly, breakfast and food impressed us with the vegan options and is very tasty. Only good things to say. Double room is small but ok.

I loved this hotel and the restaurants food was great. The free sake tasting each night was nice as well. The location was good and it didn’t take long to walk to the train station. The staff was helpful and very nice. I would stay here again.

They did not have laundry service. It was something near, but we prefer a pick up service we found by ourselves
It was very spacious (something not common in Japan). We love our japanese style room with futons. We also love the breakfast and the common area. Kids loved a play zone while we drank Sake. They staff was extremelly helpful helping us to make reservations for nice restaurants every night,

We liked the location of the property.Near to shops within walking distance of Nishiki Market and the Metro. It was clean and the staff were friendly. There was a bar with free sake and places to sit to relax after a long day out The room size was small as you generally find in Japanese hotels, so you have to be organised . There is little space for large suitcases so those staying need to be organised maybe by putting what you may need to be in hand luggage . Breakfast is not a buffet. There is a menu and it is served to you by friendly staff There is no kettle in the room, but tea and coffee is available near the reception. There are no laundry facilities at this hotel .

No issues what so ever.
Nice area, not close to the "main" toursit areas of Kyoto, but a very nice area with many restaurant near by, and convienient to transit and the train station. Staff were very friendly, the breakfasts were good, the restaurant for an evening meal was very tasty and handy. Sake tasting a bonus. Typical Japanese sized room.

I'm not a fan of the pillows, they are uncomfortable and quite different to what I'm used to.
Close to everything, including the subway, staff were super friendly and helpful, food was lovely with plenty of vegetarian options and the sake tasting was a bonus. The room was small as expected but very clean with excellent bathroom facilities. The price was excellent.

The room became fairly stuffy at night but the humidifiers helped a bit.
Great location, clean room and lovely staff. The bar/common area was very inviting and had great breakfast and drinks. Complimentary coffee was very good!

Room was really hot as you couldn’t open the window. Once we asked the staff to open it, it was much cooler but probably also a bit dangerous as they’re low. There is obviously a condensation problem also because there are little de-humidifiers the whole length of the corridor
Nice atmosphere, especially in evening when we stayed in for dinner and played cards. Fun staying on mattresses on tatami mats. Good location, although taxi drivers often had trouble finding it, so the Japanese address is useful!

Everything was great, really lovely place, bar is aesthetically pleasing.
Check-in process was super easy and we loved that could leave our luggage before checking in. Breakfast was amazing, vegan, but very delicious.

For me i didnt like japanese style room to sleep on futon and tatami, but my girlfriend enjoyed it.

Very nice and clean rooms. All as shown in the pictures. Very good food - breakfast and dinner. The service is very good and they help you out a lot how to get around Kyoto and where to go.

We couldn’t adjust the heating temperature. It was set to a standard/fixed temperature.
It was an excellent choice! The hygiene and cleanliness were impeccable, which made the stay very comfortable. The location was also quite convenient, making it easy to explore the city. And the breakfast was truly worth it, delicious and a great way to start the day. Overall, a great experience!”

The air conditioning in the room made so much noise, we asked what can be done and were told they can open a window and turn it on to heating or have ear plugs.
