Maybe the late checkin time but it’s fine, there’s load to do in Kyoto. Would have also prefer it to be adults only due to screaming kids but that’s not the fault of the hotel…

This is one of the best budget hotels I ever stayed in. Why go in a capsule hotel when for the same price you can get a whole room and choose your own pillow? The service is outstanding. The location is ideal and the staff is amazing! If you are ever in Kyoto, look no further. They have free sake, coffee and water for the guest and any other amenities needed! 20/10 place

- The room is super small, which is super normal for Japan's big cities, but still, be prepared - Staff's English is not great, but usually you find a way to get what you want

- The location is great. Thanks to location we fell in love with Osaka city. - I liked that tap water was clean, so we didn't have to buy water bottles. - Everything is clean - The breakfast is nice, japanese and versatile

This was one of our favourite hotels from our trip to Japan. The hotel was very stylish and had a nice bar area at the front (they offer free wine and sake to guests staying at the hotel!). The staff were super helpful and friendly, and they allow luggage storage in the daytime should you need it. The rooms were a good size and were clean. There was space for a few suitcases which was a welcome change from the hotels in Tokyo! Imu hotel is in a good location in the dead centre of Kyoto, it’s just a 5 minute walk to the metro station which takes you straight to Kyoto station. There are lots of bars and restaurants in the area too so plenty of selection to eat and drink. We didn’t try the food at the hotel restaurant but it did look great. We would 100% stay at this hotel again should we return to Kyoto.

The air conditioning was not working well in our room which made the stay not the most comfortable. There were 2 pieces of items that were not ours on the floor when we arrived which made us wonder whether they did a thorough clean.

It felt peaceful and quiet. Staff were very helpful and we also liked the options of different pillows to use ranging in choice of firmness and sleeping types. Free sake!

Location could be a little more central, but I also liked that it was away from the chaos of the city. No notes other than that! We all really enjoyed our stay!

The water dispenser and complimentary coffee and sake were AWESOME! Everyone was so kind and helpful, and the room was pretty spacious by Japan standards! We had a great shelf (console) above the beds (2 twins) and lots of outlets. Also, having the sink outside of the bathroom was a game changer. Loved the humidifiers and extra pillows in the hallway. And the lobby area is a cute and cozy place to hang. I would definitely stay here again!

It is not as close to a train station as I'd personally like. We were also only given 2 keys for 3 people.

Location is very quiet, first floor is also a restaurant/bar. Free sake tasting for hotel occupants. We had the Japanese style room with the futons and it was very spacious for 3 travelers. The futons were comfortable.

It is a little bit far from the train station. Walkable but imagining if I have little kids, this is a bit of a walk.

Cleanliness, the bunkbed, the breakfast. We are always looking forward for breakfast. Taste and presentation is excellent. I have never liked vegetarian food, but there’s is something I came to like. Although I didn’t ask, I hope there is an option to have a boxed breakfast option when you need to be somewhere early in the morning. Kiddo loves the bunkbed, too. The size of the room is small as most Japanese accommodation but there is a space to move around and open one luggage at a time.

The location was walking distance to public transport and the room extremely comfortable, clean and quiet. The happy hour cocktails were some of the best I had on our entire trip and only $4. Overall great value for money and wonderful service. We will be back.

We enjoyed the bed & breakfast/hostel style atmosphere among the common area. It was nice to see the lobby lively with other travelers and the food was good too! Lots of vegan options. It was a nice balance of modern and traditional. Definitely recommend for groups.

It's not "I don't like", but I'm just curious because the cleaning staff didn't make the bed after the first night but did it after the second night.... what is happening ???

it's my second time choosing this place, I have to say the WIFI speed and the variety of breakfast are much better than last year, I'm pretty sure I will be back for my next trip (not just for free sake and ordering Japanese Whisky at the bar of course).
