Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesIt was early October, so off season which was great weather, however, the hotel was quite empty. Because of this the restaurant was not open. Many local restaurants were only open weekends. Understandable.
Room 604 had a private onset on the balcony!!! This was THE BEST! To soak whilst listening to the ocean and watching the sunrise/ sunset/ moon and stars…( I did all three) was sooo relaxing. Memorable for sure.

Australia- As to be expected of having a private outdoor onsen, there were some bugs/leaves that fell into the water over time. Would've been great to have a cover for the onsen during the day.
- We got a free room upgrade to the Harumi Executive Twin Room with an open air bath on the balcony (doesn't seem to be on Booking.com though) - This room was super spacious and beautifully furnished, very modern but still had traditional aspects - Stunning ocean front view - this was particularly great when using the private bath - Located in a small seaside town so it was very relaxing to travel around (definitely need a car though) - Beds were super comfortable - Staff were very accommodating and friendly - Toilet was separate to the shower room which we personally prefer - Breakfast and kaiseki dinner was great and very extensive (heavy on the seafood but it was to be expected considering the location) - Hotel had free parking onsite - Coin laundry and dryer available onsite (only 1 each but we didn't have to wait)

United StatesThe hotel was definitely the best experience of my trip to Ito! We stayed on the 8th floor, and the room was huge with a sea view that exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was amazing; we stayed for two nights and were served different food each day. Highly recommend, and would love to come back again!

SingaporeSpacious clean room with sea view and a private outdoor hot tub - pity about the bad weather. Staff very helpful - free shuttle bus services which I didn't reserve in advance and they helped me call to enquire about strawberry picking. Meals were crazy sumptuous.

AustraliaNo problems with the accommodation but do note that there is limited English speaking staff. You will need to factor that in if you are intending to have a seamless experience. However, the staff make every effort to ensure your stay is comfortable.
Amazing views from the room that are compounded by the private outdoor hot spring bath. Room was expansive and well equipped. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast arrangements were extensive, filling and exemplar of the local seafood and produce from the area. Truly a magnificent experience for seafood lovers and those seeking a coastal retreat.

United StatesThere's some construction on the property near the outdoor baths and certain rooms. An FYI- there is very little going on in Higashiizu besides onsen. It's a very quiet, laidback small town that closes up early, so if your primary goal is relaxation, it's perfect. If you're looking to do more sightseeing, you will need to go elsewhere, but it's very easy to daytrip from here to the other towns along the Izu line.
Location is perfect- right on the ocean, so you fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves crashing. The room with private outdoor bath was incredible- it was big, comfortable bed, great lighting, privacy on the balcony, and nice amenities. Had dinner and breakfast, which were both delicious and beautifully presented. I had an amazing waitress who very kindly explained to me the various dishes and preparation methods for certain items (some were cooked table side.) Staff was very kind and accommodating- check in and out was easy despite my mangled Japanese and their limited English. Nice little gift shop on site too for souvenirs.

RussiaThe balcony area could be better: it wasn't cozy at all. Although the balcony itself is quite large, there is no furniture at all, only the clothesline for drying clothes. Looks quite empty, and the floor is just hard cement - no fun going there barefoot.
The hotel is located in a quiet area right above the beachfront. We loved the ocean view from our room, and the sounds of the ocean at night. We were also lucky to see the fireworks show someone decided to throw in the moonlit ocean during our first night of stay. The room had air conditioning and all the amenities we needed. We didnt't order breakfast during our 4 days of stay, so nothing to be said here. The onsen areas were very comfortable and spacious. Great private bath on the rooftop as well. We also loved the town of Inatori.

CanadaFacility was a bit old
Very nice in-room open air onsen. We also tried private onsen on 1F. Fantastic experience. Hotel staff was extremely friendly. We missed the train in Shizuoka and had to arrive at Ito Inatori station around 18:54. Normally the check in time is until 18:00 and dinner cannot be served after 19:00. They were very nice to accommodate our late arrival and sent a driver to pick us up at the station

ChinaPerhaps it’s because this is an onsen hotel and not many people use the shower room inside room so it’s neglected—it looks a bit not well cleaned/maintained with dirt in the door gap and leftover shower gel on wall. But the overall service and facilities really makes this no such big deal!
Both the dinner and breakfast is beyond satisfactory—very tasty and fresh! There’s also a staff who can speak mandarin who kindly introduced the dishes to us. The owner (or staff) very generously upgraded us to a room with private onsen tub at balcony, really appreciated it! The ocean view is also the best! There are onsen at two different floors that rotates during day and night, it’s worth trying both as they have different pools/facilities/views! We also appreciate the quick response to our last minute shuttle bus reservation, the response is very prompt

Dinner and breakfast portion was more than satisfaction. Very good onsen with outdoor ocean view where you could enjoy the beautiful sunset on the right side mountains. Staff would help to park your car at the hotel's private carpark just outside the hotel so that it's quite convenient. They also helped to bring our luggage into the room and offered us the welcome tea at the lobby. I guessed that they had done some sanitizing/sterilizing of the suitcases before placing it into the room while we were enjoying the tea after the check in formalities. I stayed 2 nights and enjoyed 2 different styles of KimMeTai (金目鯛- a very famous category of fish at Ito sea) cooking. The sashimi was very fresh and delicious too.

CanadaFood was not good. Always the same favour and ingredient. It got boring for 2 nights. The sashimi was very unfresh….. only has the quantity not quality at all. The complimentary drinks and snack bar was very lacking. It has very limited variety and dirty. In the public bath area, one of the bath also seems dirty. Overall it was not well kept and totally not worth the value

Canadawe've received a room that is without any air conditioning even though our booking says air conditioning is part of the room. I think the description of the room is misleading be aware as it can get very hot at night! I think the property should change the description of the room if in fact there is no air conditioning!
