Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanWood upper bank beds are quite squeaky,I think.
The hotel is located near Hakata station. It’s pretty easy to take a subway to the airport. In Hakata station you can find many shops, restaurants and ramen. Everything is nearby.

GreeceThey started cleaning before the check out time, so there was a bit of a noise before 10am. The door seperating the girls only room from the rest of the space was loud when closing, but this could depend on the people staying at the room each time.

NetherlandsQuality of the facilities was low and there were a lot of confusing things in the setup and accompanying rules. There was also no possibility for luggage storage. Furthermore, everything was so tightly packed, even for a Hostel/guest house, that a capsule hotel would have been more comfortable. Shower could not be used after 24:00.
Location is close to Hakata station. Staff was nice and they work with most common social network messenging services like whatsapp, line, kakaotalk and wechat, making communication easy.

Japan1. Had to leave my bag out where someone could have rifled through it. 2. The pillow felt like a sack of sand. It didn’t even full up the pillow case. Had an uncomfortable night. 3. The wifi wasn’t working well inside the capsule. So I had to move out into the dining room to research my travel for the day.
The room in general looked very cosy and neat. The capsule was nice. Bathroom looked nice, and felt safe because it was not in an enclosed room. Everyone tried hard to be quiet. Staff was communicative. First time capsule experience and I enjoyed it! I love diving into dark holes and building nests like a rabbit.

ArgentinaThe beds are unconfortable (you need to climb a pretty awkward ladder) and the only privacy between beds is a mere curtain. It's called "Hakata Station Front" but it's quite a walk to get there, even if it's not that far. The owner smokes on the entrance which is a bit annoying. It's not horrible, but it has those little details that could be better.
It was clean and organized.

United StatesThe door that so called separated the mixed from female only. It wasn’t really a separation. Storage lockers didn’t have space to store items
I was charged more just to have a door that separated the mixed dormitory from the female only section. That’s not really a separate room especially since you can hear everything as the door does not cover from roof to the floor. You could hear the males on the other side. I’ve stayed at places where there’s a separation between male only, female only and mixed but here it might as well have been mixed.

JapanSometimes it feels a little cramped, especially when I get the bed right by the door to the women's dorm door. When the door opens, the door blocks access to bed 207. If you are sitting at the mouth of the bed, you might be blocking the door. This is not a big problem. Also, I hope that the kitchen sometime gets more pots and pans and dishware.
This is the second time I have stayed at JAM. The first was in March 2019. Of five hostels/guest houses I have stayed at in Fukuoka, I think I like JAM best because of its price, its central location near the Hakata bus and train transportation hub, its kitchen, and its cleanliness.

JapanThe storage area for my heavy luggage was upstairs, and there was no elevator. The common room had a motion detected light, so when I was there alone to read the lights kept shutting off.

United KingdomDo not book the double bed in dorm/ 217-218. It was claustrophobic as the roof is a lot lower than all the other beds, the bed is directly above the luggage storage so all night and morning you will hear rustling under you. The bathroom while clean was part of the actual room so you can hear people all night coming to and from. The hairdryer and sinks are way to close to the beds and a 12am -6am restricted time is way too lenient. Forget about a good nights sleep here especially being in the room I was put in. In addition to all of this the bed curtains did not cover the whole bed so privacy was not present as well as the room being unbelievably hot and stuffy. Didn’t sleep properly in the 3 nights I stayed.
It was very clean and the location was perfect.

CanadaThe early check out, I’m guessing that the early check in results in this but the beginning of the cleaning happens at that same time as check out. So if you are a light sleeper be prepared to be woken up when the cleaning staff wake people up because they have to leave in 20minutes.
I really liked the location, it’s a quick little walk to Hakata station, it’s also super close to a JP post office (if you are looking to send anything to people back home like I did) which has staff who speak pretty good English and willingness to help you with sending packages. There are lots of restaurants and convenience stores in the area as well to eat at. The early check in is also great and the timing for it worked really well for my travels, the gentleman who checked me in was super nice and very helpful when I had questions later on in my stay. I ended up extending my stay here because I really like the location to Hakata station. This is a pretty small hostel put it has everything needed to have a comfortable stay.

GermanyIf you don't like privacy or getting sleep in your holidays- that's the place to stay! It's a capsule like hostel, but the capsules are mainly separated by curtains which don't close completely. There are 12 people sleeping in one room. You don't expect a quiet night when you sleep in a dormitory but let me explain the things which make it even worse: There is no wall between the bathroom and the dormitory. You will hear everyone brushing their teeth or doing their beauty programme in the middle of the night. Everybody has to use the toilet at night and you will hear everything. There a many rules you have to follow - many of them are useful. But using a hairdryer is only forbidden from midnight to 6am! The storage room for your luggage under one bed is ridiculously small. You can't stand in that place while trying to get something out of your luggage. Of course you hear the noise of the luggage and people looking for things in plastic bags all night long. The beds are kind of a futon, but it's very hard. The pillow is too flat and the bed is a bit short for tall people. I also found some black hair on the sheets. Nowadays there's a lack of thoughtfulness. The people will do phone calls in the middle of the night and minimum of two people won't silence their phones. The next thing I really didn't like is that you can't leave your luggage anywhere before check in (between 12:00-16:00). We could stay one hour at a family mart store, had to stay the rest of the time outside - in winter. in my opinion it would be absolutely no problem to send the code of the door lock to the guests. You don't need to get a key to get inside. We just could have waited the almost four hours in the dining room. In whole Japan (stayed for 1 month) we could bring our luggage before. Furthermore there are cameras everywhere. I didn't know that I stayed in the 'big brother house'.
The kitchen and bathroom were clean and modern Nice blankets Really close to Hakata Station Employees were nice and the hostel dog was really cute
