Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe location was great and made it really easy to get around. Parking was a few blocks away and the train station was an easy walk. The neighborhood was really quiet at night.

AustraliaThe stairs to the bedrooms are narrow in depth, but standard for Japan. Traditional floor seating in the TV room made it tricky for old legs, but you can bring in a dining chair from the dining room if that's a problem.
The house was beautifully renovated and well equipped. We spent a few days here in winter when outside temperatures were as low as -7°c, but we were warm and cozy inside, including in the bedrooms. We especially enjoyed the bathtub which faced out onto the snow-covered garden. Even though we had a car, the location was perfect to walk around the canals and old streets. The bento breakfast delivered every day was both gorgeous and delicious. We'll be staying again!

AustraliaThe internet is quite slow, and can sometimes be a bit intermittent. It’s not really a problem, and is more of an issue with the town itself, but nonetheless, the internet is a little lacking. Other than that, no issues.
Location is great, hida-furukawa is a beautiful town, the building itself looks fantastic, there is good heating, and the kitchen is quite well-equipped (with a very good rice cooker). Beds are comfortable, with proper winter blankets/doonas, bathroom is great. There was also a complimentary breakfast service that I’m fairly sure I didn’t pay for/request that was extremely high quality.

IsraelBefore our arrival, yoshiki stay contacted us, asking what time we intend to arrive at hida furukawa station so that he could guide us to the accommodation. After meeting us at the station with umbrellas for all of us (just in case we don't have) he walked us to the accommodation, sat with us at the table and explained us all the details with extra care. While walking to the accommodation, he recommended us restaurants, explained the surrounding buildings and shops, and even offered to reserve us a place to eat. The accommodations itself is a beautiful traditional Japanese house located 5 minutes to furukawa station, right besides the beautiful cannal street which is lightly illuminated at night. Besides that the place was very clean and the futon were arranged beforehand. In the morning we received a bento for all of us which contained a nice Japanese style breakfast which we really enjoyed. Even though hida furukawa is a small village, there are places to eat dinner in and there are konbinis around. A very pleasant stay at a beautiful, clean and traditional Japanese house in the countryside of Japan. Surely a very memorable stay. Recommended!

United StatesWe're foreigners living in Japan but we sleep on western beds. Futons took a little getting used to, but that's just because we're not used to them.
This was a very nice stay for me and my family. It's in a good location and the neighborhood is fascinating. The kitchen was well stocked, the bath was really nice and comfortable. Two separate toilet and a urinal were a nice plus. The Japanese breakfast every morning was a nice, tasty treat.

United StatesThe features said there was on-site parking; there wasn't. We had to park in the free City Parking Lot, a 10-minute walk away. This isn't that big a deal, but then neither is being accurate in the feature list. We got thoroughly soaked in a heavy downpour on the walk back from the lot. Also not a big deal...
High quality accomodation in a perfectly central location of this quiet town. All the amenities one could hope for. The updated bathroom is a work of art, and so high-tech! Be sure to make dinner arrangements early, reservation if at all possible, as once the clock hits 6:00 PM, it's very difficult to find somewhere that will serve you. Would definitely recommend.

United KingdomOn arrival, we found that the address of the property provided by Booking.com was,in fact, another property owned by the same owner a few streets away from the actual place we stayed. It was very disturbing to find another group of guests staying in the house we were expecting to stay in. It required the help of a kind family living nearby to telephone the owners and get the correct address. Once we were there, it was superb so we didn’t feel it was anything dodgy, it was just a genuine error on booking.com maintenance.
Beautiful heritage home, kept in immaculate condition. Very comfortable for two or four people. So incredibly quiet.

SingaporeIt can be difficult to reach accommodation by public transport. Best if you have a car.
It is a beautiful big house, though house can get quite cold. Luckily, house has great heaters/aircon installed in all rooms. Owner is very friendly and helpful. He even supported our last minute change in arrival time. It is an old, lovely and quiet town, if you prefer less crowd. There are still small shops and restaurants around.
