Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustriaIn the room price was no meal included and there was no option to buy any food at the hotel, even if we had changed and would have liked to have dinner and breakfast. The price for the night, even when you have the onsen, is too high for one night. The hotel is not very well located which is why not many foreigners stay there because there is just nothing around. But you can reach Koya san easly from there.
I am going to explain this accomodation to all WESTERN TOURISTS: So we decided to book this hotel because it was on the way to Koya san and next to a railway Station. But the hotel was 400 metres a bit on the hill (just to know if you have big or much luggage). The hotel is the biggest building in this little mountain village and there's not much around accept jungle like forest. So when we arrived in the evening there was no place to eat nearby accept 1km over the hill was one restaurant open. We couldn't somehow eat at the hotel, even if we would have paid for it. That was strange. To the hotel itself: It has 5 floors with different room options. We stayed at the economy room which is Japanese style which means you have those futons, small table and "chairs" and at night you have to put a mattress on the floor by yourself for sleeping. That was a nice experience. You have an extra toilet and a baisin, a fridge, a rice cooker in the front room and that's basically it. The discription says "shared bathroom" but this is the onsen on the 1st floor. So you go with your yukata (bath robe) downstairs where you find onsen for men, women and a family option you can pay for additonally if you wanna.have some privacy or want to experience the onsen with your partner. We tried both and we really liked it. It's a great experience in Japan.

DenmarkThe building was a bit old and tired. The walls in the chancing room of the onsen where dusty and had spiderwebs. The onsen was spacious and conformable, but it felt a bit "rough around the edges" it was not as clean as we would have liked. There were dead bugs on the floors. There was a weird humid smell in the elevator.
Quiet location up on the mountains, right next to a train station so it is very convenient to visit other places for day trips. The room was big and clean, and the yukatas where confomrtable (they had an XL size that fit me). The breakfast had a large variety. The staff was helpful and welcoming.

GermanyWe booked one day in advance and therefore could not have breakfast or dinner (but we were given a discount). However there are no restaurants or shops in walking distance so getting food would be a problem. We are cycling and luckily had emergency food in our bags.
The place was clean and the room was comfortable and spacious.

South AfricaThe lack of communication from the guy that checked us in. We had to walk about 15 mins o Lawsons as they could not cater dinner and there were no restaurants around.
The breakfast option was Japanese style. I enquired on check-in about vegetarian options and was told it was a buffet. The first day we ate rice and had coffee. A distinguished gentleman made a note and made sure we were catered for the next day. The kitchen staff also was very accommadating. the onsen was amazing

LithuaniaInterior is quite old and outdated.
Big onsen, spacious rooms, quiet location. There is a train station nearby therefore it's easy to commute.

IrelandTraditional Japanese style accommodation, lots of room with public baths and some nice scenery in the area. Easily accessible from the local train station. Local restaurant choice is limited, so something to consider during your stay. Very relaxing experience overall

NetherlandsI didn't get answers to my questions on the booking.com app.
The room is huge, clean and bright and has a nice view of the mountains. There's a little entrance area with a fridge, sink and toilet. The hotel is located in a quiet area close to the train station.

Hong Kong1. I tried contacting this place twice via this apps but I hear no reply at all. 2. I didn’t expect having to prepare our own futon bed in a Ryokan, so I guess this is not a Ryokan after all 3. When we left, no staff came out to say good bye
1. Quiet, Not many people there 2. The traditional yukata were quite colourful for the ladies 3. The japanese staff were really helpful, he tried his best despite language barrier
